What exactly has plopeater done wrong?

I haven't been on this site for a couple of weeks, but I can't understand why everyone is making a big deal about plopeater. So far the only posts of his I can find seem to suggest he's a big Herbie Hide fan and has his tongue in his cheek. Not unless some of his posts have been removed, I can't find any evidence of nasty, malicious or personal insults he has made to any of the users on this forum. The last time I was on this site was when the Pavlik v Lockett thread was running and some of the posts on there were a lot worse then what plopeater has put up recently. Like I said, I haven't been on this site for two week and maybe I haven't seen all of his posts, but what has plopeater really done bad?

Have to say I thought it was a little arrogant to ban him just for his oponions.

The mod that banned him also banned Billy The Kid for not a great deal either and changed his posts to self deprecating ones. Feel free to correct me if this incorrect as I have heard this second hand.

People get away with physical threats, racial taunts and name calling all the time on here. From what I read of plop he did none of this and was actually a genuine, if naive, poster.

I find this concerning. :-?

As mentioned on Other Sportsd regarding BTK's ban, there are plenty of other posters ahead of those two that should be banned.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander I say!

It was clearly somebody on a windup. No harm done.

Every thread would have 50-75% of plopeaters innane posts and it ruined threads. If he posted sparingly it would be fine but he was just on piss take

Yeah if you wanna learn like he claimed you do it by reading, not by posting 400 posts a day talking crap.

He was on a wind up

Then why not simply tell him to stop instead of just banning him?

It took months/years for Decagon and Saddler to be banned for making racist and/or xenophobic remarks!

Which is worse, making a lot of posts are making incinuiting remarks about someone's colour/creed?

No Mod will ban me.

I'm an insider.

Did anyone read plopeaters thread on the amateur boxing forum

He was clearly taking the piss with those comments.

Of course the racism is worse and I think some people get away with a lot. But then maybe the threads being filled with one poster repeating the same old crap is boring and probably more likely to make posters go elsewhere...

But isn't that what DG does?

The guy was a complete waste of space making juvenile posts that dont do anything for the board. He was picking Herol Graham to kayo Eubank and Watson in 1 rd, etc, just showering the forum with 700 posts worth of his stupid lame gags. Awful member, glad he's been told to do one.

He was posting an obscene amount, and I don't think any of it was actually useful. He was here purely to troll. It was so much harder to find posts of substance while he was here. He completely threw the signal to noise ratio out of kilter.

I agree with what has happened, now I have a new job and have to actually work for a living coming on Boxrec is a luxury and I could do without wading my way through the shite he used to post.

True. I found myself reading less once his spamming started.

I had a real job once, then i discovered the Civil Service

I still say banning is a little harsh. Current Scene had a good idea that a new poster can only post x per day.

There's more important house cleaning to be done IMO.

I agree!

I nominate Spud to be banned!!

Maybe because Plop eater was only interested in disagreeing wth people and talking complete shiit.

How is this for nonsense

'Hatton is the gresatest of all time'!

THATS WORTHY OF A BAN!

Gosh

No problem with any of that and who am I to doubt your legendary status (nice work with my username though)

Just wish you would use your decent boxing knowledge to say more than "Ricky Hatton is ducking Junior Witter"

Doesn't matter that you  it still makes for quite boring reading. Oh look a new post, ah DG has something to say, oh great, Hatton ducking Witter, here we go again zzzzz

I agree with Nick - I wasn't involved in him being banned but I was reading less when he was.

I mean the guy was averaging 233 posts a DAY!!!!! And he wasn't listening, alot of the forum members were telling him to read more, post less and he got offended.

The fact that other forums have chosen to do the same thing suggest he's a wind up merchant.

I've been on Boxrec since around 2001 and i've seen very few posters get banned over the years, but this guy with 700 posts worth of complete crap over such a short space of time is banning material.

The british forum is waaay better than the current 'yo mama' scene forum, and although there is disagreements theres always good banter and a certain level of decorum.

Guys like this aptly named plopeater reduce the forum to the millions of poor quality boxing forums elsewhere in cyber space.

He's not here to participate, hes not here to learn, hes here to seek attention and annoy. People like that need to get cleared out so the grown folk can talk!

Posted: 01 Apr 2008, 10:56

He was just here to get a bit of attention for himself by posting a load of daft comments, no point allowing him to carry on.

Why are we even discussing it? The guy added absolutely zero value and was dragging the forum down. End of story.

No it wasnt a harsh decision. I calculated he would have passed the number of posts I have made in three years in about a fortnight and a lot of his posts were childish and unneccesary rather than abusive. He was here to disrupt so the mods did the right thing. Hopefully this will deter others who come on here to be a nuisance and contribute nothing to the forum.
