Audley Harrison - The Comeback

Just remembered reading in Warren's Sun column yesterday that A-Force is going to be on the Calzaghe - Hopkins bill in a fortnight. Does this mean he is finally joining Warren to try and get a long awaited world title shot?
And is there any news on an opponent yet, is he gonna jump in at the deep end or will it be an old American journeyman to shake off the ring rust?

With 2 weeks notice I doubt itll be anyone that good.
I dont think he will have signed any deals with Mr Warren because there was talk that he had signed some kind of deal with Dennis Hobson before Audley had his car crash.

Anyone would think this country is overflowing with Olympic gold medallists the way this thread is panning out..
Maybe the PR work hasn't been great and the learning wasn't done properly but there is certainly a way back. Its typical of this country. A guy turns pro and is headlining his own show on BBC and then gets pushed along to satisfy the blood thirsty public then slagged off..
Britain is the only country who puts novice pro's top of the bill - what a joke!! even De La Hoya wasn't top of the bill and he signed pro for 1 million in 92...
definately a way back - take the limelight away and stick him on some undercards....

Well said. Hopefully things will change in Beijing this summer, but whether we like it or not, at the moment Audley Harrison is the only British boxer to have won an Olympic gold medal in the last forty years.

Is he on the undercard though? No mention of it on his record. He's very quiet.
Very good addition to the undercard, bit of heavyweight name value always goes down a treat.

He's still got a chance to win a belt even now, theres not a single heavyweight in the world i'd say he has zero chance against. He just needs to get a good promoter, fight often and be at his best every single time. A big ask but stranger things have happened!
I just hope he doesn't bump into David Haye on the way up.

That Sprott KO will either make A Force more conservative and cautious than ever, or hopefully give him the wake up that he needs........to realise it's better to go down fighting than sizing your opponent up for 12 rounds!!
As someone said before, he just needs to grow some balls.

Age is now the big problem for Audley, it hasn't helped that he was involved in a car crash after his last fight, and also family matters took him out longer.
I've supported Audley through his career, but i have serious doubts that he can do much now. Hope he does fight on the Calzaghe bill, see what he has left.

Exactly. If Audley can go in there confident, knowing he can win, and not being scared to take a couple of shots in return, he can challenge the best of them.
Its been said many times but surely this is his one absolute final chance to salvage his career.

Seeing as AH lost his younger brother not too long ago, I am glad to see him back after what must have been a terrible time.
All these people slagging him off for 'going it alone' and being 'arrogant' - I can tell you that AH did what most forward thinking people would do..........NOT SIGN YOUR LIFE AWAY!
It did not work out for AH - but he went for it.
I suppose because we are both of West Indian stock means I can relate to AH and his stance and this 'perceived arrogance'
I am telling you this, if AH were a white heavyweight then people would applaud the stance he took by going it alone.
Most people applaud this chav man of the people persona that some adopt because it appeals to them and their lifestyle.
AH is just showing it how it is within certain sections of the community.
Why should someone who does not get in the ring get paid more than you?
Fwank would have earned more money than AH!
AH could have taken £100k to go pro before the Olympics - he turned it down and GOOD FOR HIM - a good business decision.

You know what...I actually agree with you on this
Of course one thing about Audley is he had bags of talent but unfortunatley he never delivered, before he fought Williams he was very reluctant to let his hands go, and then after it he neglected his defence,
i guess a lack of balance was to blame, he just didnt manage to get it all together at the right time, shame.
