I have to admit I didn't know who Lee was until I watched him on Friday night and I was very impressed with what I saw. He is only twenty and unbeaten in seven, winning his last two in the first round. Judging by the fans in the York Hall he can sell a few tickets and Adam Smith said he was a decent amateur during his commentary. So has Mick Hennessy and Tony Sims discovered the next big star of the light-welterweight division?

Difficult to say it was over so quickly.

Looking at the pair i thought Pearce was the star prospect and Purdy had the look of the disheveled travelling opponent-type.

The ref stopped the fight very quickly.

Fun while it lasted though.

He looked realy good from what I saw of him, good movement and fast accurat punches. Funniest thing was the morons sat behind me (one of whom once asked me if they were really fighting or was it like wrestling) were at the bar when it happened!

I had someone behind me ask if Thaxton being pulled out by his corner meant the fight was now going to be declared a draw!!

I once predicted Clifford Etienne could out-work Mike Tyson and win on points. Not my finest hour.

However, I was somewhat vindicated when Williams did what I'd hoped Etienne might do.

I think Lee can go one step further then David Walker and win the British title.

I don't get that about the York Hall yesterday was the first time I have been there but I've been to a couple of small hall shows in the past, and usualy people know a bit about boxing (probably more than me which in fairness isn't too hard if Im honnest) however there were at least 2 groups of people sat around me who seemed to know fornicate all about it! Whats going on London sort it out! At one point one of the blokes behind me was proffering the advice "hit him!" internaly I wondered if the bloke thought Jono hadn't thought of that already!

Cracking venue though by the way realy atmosferic and you can get realy close the the ring. Shame you can't drink beer while watching the boxing though.

I think like most sporting events you get a few freebie and comp tickets handed out to people who wouldn't normally be there. Hence a few goofy observations that are then made.

Either way i think its good that people that dont know much about boxing is going to these shows. Showing more interest in boxing from the general public, it can only do good for the sport..
