Prizefighter Tournament

Come on then lads let's have it. Predictions, gossip, odds etc Who are the favourites and who is going out first session? I am not sure of the betting odds but possibly:

Dolan and Rogan are the favourites
Morgan, Ferguson and Kenna the middle ground
Butlin, Ibbs and Bessey (sorry Billy :TU: ) as the outsiders.

Could be wrong there though. Dolan may be a bit small some think but Rogan has a decent chin and workrate and i think my favourite (not only because he is from N.I. either!)

Morgan is strong but crude and has a bit of a dig, Ferguson no idea but winning record and Kenna has the experience. Butlin has been putting the word out that he feels his fitness is the key, Billy's head might be array but hopefully he can bounce back from the Bonson loss and Ibbs is untested and recently beaten.

Thoughts?

David Dolan 11/4
Colin Kenna 9/2
Martin Rogan 9/2

What's the craic with reserves? Who are the others alongside Chisora? I am not sure what happens if a lad drops out in the semis or even final , does a reserve come in then?

Yeah, I don't know... thats what I am basing my decision are.

There are two reserves... Cannot remember the other fella (sorry) but Chisora has been slated as First reserve... so I assume he has first opportunity.

I think Morgan will knock Dolan out. Thats a tough match for the favourite.
One suprise is looking at Darren Morgan on the publicity shot, I always read he was 6ft 4ins and he is nowhere near 6ft 4ins in those photos, but he has power and I think he'll unleash it on Dolan on Friday.

I think Billy is going to do it. I have absolutley no doubts about it! But Paul Butlin and Colin Kenna will also be in the final based on their experience!

Dolan v Rogan final and I can't call the winner.

I think dolan has the better boxing skill's though rogie is 100% born to foght but not box. Depending on rest time before the final I think Rogie stands a very good chance. Maybe I'm wrong in writting off Ibbs before the first fight but I just don't see him being a really opponent for Rogie. Rogie can impress when he wants to and although he also looks sloppy at times he has been training hard for this compo and has shown some great flair in sparring. Being a Belfast boy like myself I wish him all the best and hope he does well.

At the same time I love my pies and therefore have to shout for billy and Puka Pies when he's in the ring lol.

i think kenna will win it, he is the only one with any professional pedigree whatsoever, look at the records on boxrec, KO victory against llwellwyn, the short course suits kenna well as his fitness is not great.

yes he got KO'd in one by sprotty to a body shot, but there is no one anywhere near sprotts class in here...

For reference.

Tony Thompson was the unheralded victor in the equivalent American-Walrus promotion about four years ago.

Look at him now...

Spoke to Colin the other day and watche dhim spar Billy on Friday and he reckons he's in better shape than he was for Llewyn.

My worry is he'll meet Morgan in the semi's. they'll have a big tear up and he'll be knackered for the final.

Ferguson is a very dark horse, winning record, looks fit.....

Colin all the way for me.

Thats what I said to Emerson the other day, we saw him on the Hatton vs. Zoo undercard and he looked an absolute monster.

It must have been perspective from where we were sat as he looked 6'7'' that night.

Heart says Colin, head says Chisora as a late replacement.

Mo Harris one of my favourite fighters.

I could have swore Thompson won the final...I could be wrong. I know Harris was in it.

Unless he wore his trunkline above his neck, there's no way that was a body shot. It was a left hook to the head which absolutely sparked him out. Hell of a shot it was too. One of the loudest punches I've ever heard.

Yes i remember watching on Eurosport and Cedric Kushner called him "The best heavyweight with the lousiest record," or something along those lines.

Harris was rewarded with a crack at Fres Oquendo if memory serves me correctly (world title eliminator maybe?) and he was winning until the 10th when a big left hook (?) poleaxed him. That all may be wrong but i just remember it being on early Setanta, back when they picked up Kingvision stuff from time to time. Could have been Jones Jnr-Ruiz support.
