2nd fight was all set up for jeff but he had a stinker of a night.

In the 1st fight, Fenech gave one of the greatest performances of a foreign fighter in America. He won clearly in an exciting fight, but he never got over the draw verdict.

He obviously badly needs the money as well. Fenech had so many great nights, he must've made loads of money fighting in Australia in world title fight after world title fight, so it is doubly sad to see this.

I agree Fenech never got over that robbery. He looked a diffrent fighter in there rematch. Ive heard he had a rib injury from sparring the very young Kostya Tszyu, but Fenech himself has never said anything about the injury. Fenech claimed that it took something away from him being robbed and in the rematch he thought it would be easy and never trained as he should have.

I personally think its not smart fighting at there age's but Id rather watch this fight than Mundine Soliman 3.

Nelson was recovering from malaria first time; second time, he mashed the mauler; third time, we're all a helluva lot older.

The rematch was one of those Ali-Foreman, Hagler-Sibson type moments when you knew beyond all doubt you were watching a great fighter (and I don't use the word 'great' lightly).
After the first fight, NOBODY tipped Nelson to smash Fenech in Oz.

I'll bet Nelson is still fit as a fiddle. From what I hear he's got plenty of money as well, and has invested in several businesses.

If anything, I would suggest he's doing Fenech a favour.

Fenech isnt in trouble with money, He has fight cards on every month on Foxtel here and makes plenty out of his gym Restruants etc. He said he was visiting Thailand and a wealthy businessman offered him 1 Mil to fight and he said it was to good to pass up.

That bout wasn't really anything new for Nelson; he often needed two fights to be convincing against good fighters.

Men he should have been beating handily the first time around to justify his rep.Nelson of course had an excuse for every bad performance it seemed.

I can't think of any other touted great from that era that had as many off-nights.
