SHOWTIME FOR FROCH AND WITTER

by Wellington
Saturday, May 10 -- ShoBox: The New Generation Special Edition 10:45 p.m. ET/PT
WBC Super Lightweight Championship: Junior Witter vs. Timothy Bradley
WBC Super Middleweight Title Eliminator: Carl Froch vs. Dennis Inkin
Witter will attempt to make it three consecutive successful defenses when he takes on the undefeated and championship-ready Timothy Bradley from Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, England.
In his last outing, Witter (36-1-2, 21 KOs), of Bradford, England, finished off Vivian Harris with a stunning, seventh-round knockout. In his outing before that, Witter again looked every bit the world champion that he is by out-boxing Arturo Morua en route to a ninth- round TKO for his first successful title defense.
Bradley (21-0, 11 KOs), of Palm Springs, Calif., will make his fourth ShoBox appearance. If victorious against Witter, the promising unbeaten will become the 25th ShoBox fighter to win a world title. Bradley, long considered one of the super lightweight division’s top prospects, has won his last two fights by lopsided unanimous decisions.
The 12-round championship fight is promoted by Hennessy Sports.
In the co-feature, the undefeated Froch, the WBC No. 1 super middleweight contender, will battle Inkin, the No. 2 contender in a much-hyped, WBC 168-pound title eliminator. The winner potentially will secure a world title fight against reigning WBC 168-pound champion and future Hall of Famer Joe Calzaghe.
Froch (22-0, 18 KOs), of Nottingham, England, is a big-time boxer with tremendous punching ability. Five of his last six fights have ended via knockout.
Inkin (32-0, 24 KOs), of Hamburg, Germany, has won three out of his last four outings by knockout.
The combined record of the four boxers is a remarkable 111-1-2 with 74 knockouts.

Its a Special Edition of SHOBOX on a Saturday Night (Same as Championship Boxing), it will have a huge audience watching, so it should really be good for Witter and Froch.

ShoBox is mainly for young contenders. Bradley has been on there a few times. Froch and Inkin are top contenders so technically it's ok. The main ShoBox style fight however is Murray-Fewkes because it features two unbeaten PROSPECTS. Glad the Yanks will see these two as they're really risking it.

It's an excellent card and it's great exposure both sides of the Atlantic for both fighters, lets hope they can capitalise on it by putting in good performances.....and post fight interviews

Showbox bills usually last for an hour... I suspect that although Murray vs Fewkes is the type of fight they will normally show... they won't sacrifice this for an eliminator and a world title fight.

Good exposure for Witter and Froch. Though a complete disaster if they both lose (which could happen because on paper at least they are tough fights). Where would that leave MH?

Can anyone confirm, has Witter stolen Murray's Showtime TV date?
There are only 3 fighters that quality for ShoBox:
1) Timothy Bradley (a regular of the series, and a young American contender/prospect).
2) John Murray (young, promosing Brit)
3) John Fewkes (ditto)
Don't tell me 2 of the 3 won't even get on the program. If so, what exactly are the two putting it all on the line for? The English title is scant reward for a start.

When a world champ has to rely on people posting on an internet forum to drum up interest in a multi million dollar fight, you know his handlers dont have a fornicating clue
and they never will

In a normal World, the fight would just happen.
Hatton is scared and thats about it.
Hatton says 'stop slagging me off and we will fight' you stop slagging him off or making reference t the fight and he does walking the other way.
Witton should slag off Hattons mum on tv - the yanks love that 'yo mama' type of thing!

Witton should slag off Hattons mum on tv - the yanks love that 'yo mama' type of thing! Then Hatton would have real cause to hate Witter even more and strengthen his arguement about Witter and his gob. No, all he has to do is call Hatton out again (if he secures a good win that is) and say "I am the real number one, now you prove otherwise". Being bigheaded and cocky just hasnt worked for Witter like it has Froch. A humble approach could gain him fans and a far better chance of a fight with Hatton. Come on DG this is pro boxing not WWE with a nasty fighting a good guy and most yanks believing its for real. This is Witters big chance to not only shine during the fight but to get the post fight interview right also. Lets hope he does it and gets more exposure on ITV
