Is talking about the Cotto show banned?

Can't believe we've got to past 8pm the day after the fight and no one's mentioned the Margarito-Cintron fight or how Gomez was so out of his depth against Cotto.
Is there something I should know?

Margarito I thought was very good, Cintron lost the will when he kept coming through his punches. Gomez was not in his league.

I thought you heard the news?
Apparently - Hatton has said he will fight Witter if we don't mention the Cotto fight!
You messed it up for us all now!
Re: the fight, Cotto is the getting stronger all the time , he looks to have increased nahgd speed as well these days!
Gomez was never in it, and he is not a bad fighter!
I think Cotto might e the BEST at 147, maybe?
PBF will NOT fight him, imo

I was mocked by some following Mayweather v Hatton, for suggesting that Cotto was the only serious threat left for Floyd.
The more I see of Cotto the more I think he wins. The guy is an animal.

I'm salivating at the prospect of Cotto and Margarito facing off in July - it will be an absolute war!
PBF will surely HAVE to face the winner of that one?

PBF - Hatton - DLH all have the art of dodging the toughest fights down to a T!

I think we're all just baffled at Clinton surrendering his belt that way. It was a miserable experience.
Margo-Cintro was thrilling - savage shots traded and it's admirable the way Tony takes it to these young welters. Though AM's giving up his new IBF title to avoid the Clottey mandatory, it makes sense in order to fight Cotto. What a fight Margarito-Cotto will be.
I felt Cotto-Gomez was sick. Seeing one fighter able to land so many flush shots. Margarito will take loads as well, and I wonder how Cotto will react if his shots don't have the desired effect early on.

Cotto v Margarito will be a classic. Was it me on the picture quality was poorr on Setanta show, compared to the picture on sky show.

im as guilty as real deal, i was pissed off that i got up in the middle of the night after driving 400 bloody miles on saturday...to see clinton surrender his belt so easily..... so i watched cotto instead, he is awesome, and beats hatton and pbf in my opinion.

Bet you cant imagione life without it now Tel eh? It has that sort of effect on people. I still marvel over sky+; I certainly wouldnt be without it..
As you say Cintron looked out of sorts and didnt welcome Margarito's unwavering pressure. He had no answer to it, and when his power shots just bounced off the Tijuana bad ass, Cintron's confidence just melted away.
The Gomez beat down by Cotto reminded me a little of the way Chavez put it to Haugen in the bull ring back in the 90s, except without the spiteful edge to it.
Cotto won as he pleased and busted up a battle hardened and willing challenger in the Mexican. He is better then I ever gave him credit for and looks just right physically at 10st 7lb.
Cotto v Margarito just might be the best fight of 08.
If I had the cash I would seriously consider a trip to the States for that fight. PR v Mexico fights are always great but this one has a special feel to it. They wont have to go looking for each other, that's for sure!

I thought the same thing today Dennis. If Cotto gets past Margarito on July 26th, IMO he will be the best at 147. That said, I'm not sure if he will. Margarito has a chin made of granite and Cotto has struggled with fighters with a god chin (Mosley for example).
Definately going to this, though.

Margarito chewed Cintron up and it was something to witness....fights like that highlight just what a real fighters mental make-up is all about. Cintron hit Margarito with fight finishing specials and Antonio simply smiled and kept coming. It was inspiring stuff to witness.
Cintron like many punchers has a bully mentality, but when they run into someone who can absorb their power and keep bringing the heat its soul destroying. As in the first fight Cintron crumbled physically and mentally when he just couldn't budge the man in front of him.
Margarito is an animal and i mean that in a complimentary way. A real seek and destroy mission, where he displayed incredible punch resistance and single minded intensity. Raw but brilliant stuff.
Margarito/Cotto is set upto to be something incredible. If a fight was ever going to be beautifully brutal its that one. Cotto is an awesome talent who also looked spectacular at the weekend(albeit against an overmatched opponent) but i don't think he can just outbox Margarito and im not sure anyone can outfight the Mexican.

Maragrito vs. Cotto will be awesome. Hard to pick a winner but would edge towards Cotto.
Was never too hot on Margarito but after watching him this weekend I finally get it. I agree with you Terry - the commentators were talking Cintron up but for me we all knew that Margarito could take Cintron's best, the question was whether Cintron could cope with Margarito's, and for me, from the off he looked uncomfortable.
Cotto is a bull. He's huge for a welterweight. It would be interesting to see what kind of effect his strength would have on Floyd as for me stylewise he's made for Mayweather to do a number on.

Career madness for Cintron to take on Margarito again so soon, but he gave it a hell of a shot in the early rounds - those were some Tommy Hearns type bombs he was throwing in round one, a lot of fighters would have crumbled under those - not Margarito though, WHAT a chin on him.
That's why it seemed such a strange fight to take, as KC could have made a lot of money beating up some contenders, before putting it all on the line against Marg again. Another bad one for Manny as well...
Cotto has never looked better - a real machine in there. Very brave effort from Gomez, but he's best getting rid of his clueless corner.
If he'd have come back to the corner, carrying his severed head under his arm, they'd have put some vaseline on him and sent him back out.
Cotto is definitely another good name for Ricky Hatton to add to his growing "MUST AVOID" list.

Cintron v Margarito was a great fight that was only ever going to have one winner. Fair play to Cintron for taking the fight so quickly but he should have concerntrated far more on keeping some more distance between them rather than loading up when Margarito was on his way in. It was soon obvious that the shots were having little effect even when bombs were landing flush.
Trying not to get carried away with Cotto after that but it was looking like Maccarinelli v Gunn in that first round, the way Cotto's jabs were messing Gomez's face up. Can't believe the corner were getting ready to send him out again in the end, he was totally finished and could have been seriously hurt.
Margarito v Cotto is going to be a great fight, I feel Cotto's high guard, good footwork and new found speed will be enough for him to win a fairly wide decision - then imo Cotto is number 1 at 147.
As i'm feeling fairly indifferent towards Hatton at the moment, i'm kinda hoping he loses to either Lazcano or Mallignaggi as that's the only way we'll get to see Cotto v Mayweather - once it's the biggest earning for Floyd. Still think Floyd has the style to beat him but it would be his toughest fight to date imo

Margarito reminds me of a modern day Carlos Palomino - both archetypal indestructible Mexicans fighting in the welterweight division, that take a lot of punches to get their own lethal punches in.
I think Toni will give Cotto a good fight, but lose on points

search wrote:hilarious that people are giving margarito such a good shot a beating cotto.
Personally i find it hilarious that some people write off Margarito's chances so easily.
how exactly will this happen?
By Margarito hitting Cotto and dragging him into a war. Cotto can box, but he's always been hittable and Margarito can hit and provides huge pressure.
This fight is no formality either way.

Cotto has a beautiful style of fighting. Compact punches. Fast combinations. Expert timing.
However he does take his foot off the gas. He is a weight drainer, has amssive strength, but not the greatest stamina. If he isn't turning an opponent into chopped liver by round 7, you have to worry how he fares when the other guy rallies. He had some rough moments that way with Mosley - Mosley held on for dear life in the middle rds, the rds that Cotto had planned to kill his body, survived the storm and tried to back Cotto up when he was tired.
Cotto-Margarito will be brilliant. Margarito - yest again - showed he can take punishment that is lethal to anyone else. He was doing this since that brilliant Antonio Diaz fight and still going strong.

Interesting angle on where the July 26th PR v Mexico mega fight may wind up taking place in Steve Kim's article at Maxboxing
http://www.maxboxing.com/Kim/Kim041408.asp
JULY 26TH
The emails are already pouring in about Cotto-Margarito (maybe they could bill this one
'Immovable Object vs. Irresistible Force) and where the fight is headed to. Arum made it clear that while he has reserved July 26th, no venue is in place as of yet.
Las Vegas (specifically the MGM Grand from what Arum told me on Friday night) had shown a high level of interest. But there's one glitch - their rule that says fighters weighing over 135 pounds must wear 10-ounce gloves. What has really irked Arum is that he has tried in vain to set up a meeting with those in charge of the Nevada State Athletic Commission to perhaps get something done about this, but to no avail.
It is believed that Nevada is the only commission with this rule. And from the very beginning it had its detractors (me included), who believed this was nothing more than just a political move and a misguided over-reaction to the death of Leavander Johnson. Poor administrating that night - not 8-ounce gloves - killed Johnson.
The job of the commission in Nevada, from what I've been told numerous times, is to protect the financial interest of the state. Well, it looks like in this instance, if they lose this fight, which figures to be a pretty big promotion, they have failed.
This is another example of why boxing needs to be run by boxing people, not bureaucrats or politicians.
Will the issue of 10 oz 'pillows' see the fight land in LA or NYC instead of a Vegas casino?

I'm sure this fight will be at MSG. This also raises the question of whether Mayweather - IF he ever agrees to fight Cotto (or, indeed, Marg) - would take the fight anywhere other than Vegas with the 10 oz "pillows". I doubt it.

No real suprises for me... always thought Cintron is a bully who doesn't know what to do when an opponent stands up to his bombs.
Sadly, cause I still think he could be fringe world class, Gomez was outgunned by a P4P er.
Cotto vs Mayweather would be a great fight for May next year... after Mayweather vs DLH.
Wouldn't mind seeing Gomez vs Cintron.
