Arguello vs Delahoya at 135?

What is everyone's take on this Hypothetical?
In the hypothetical matchup thread,i put Arguello-Chavez at 135 as my latest, but immedietely after,i realized that Arguello-Delahoya at 135 would probably serve as a more explosive and interesting showdown.
I see Chavez winning a rather boring and strategical style fight with Arguello for some reason, while i see Arguello and Delahoya at 135 putting on a Fight of the year epic battle.
I think that Delahoya would win by 12th rd tko,but he would be quite busted up looking at the end.Maybe even more than Arguello.
Chavez would win a relatively close UD against Arguello at 135.
I dont think that he'd get into slug it out mode with "The Explosive Thin Man".He'd fight carefully.Mostly jabbing, moving in and out, clinching and counterpunching.Arguello would land more Hard punches but Chavez would simply outwork em i think.
Arguello-Delahoya would be a battle of Atrition though.A War of Wills.
Eventually,The Golden Boy would wear em down enough to pick em apart with a barrage of straight punches in the 12th round, prompting the ref to step in.Not without Oscar Looking Quite beat up on the face though.

Arguello would weather the early storm and come on late when DLH was looking to eek out a points win. The score cards would even up in the later rounds and then I'd imagine it would all be to play for.

De La Hoya is NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BEAT A LEGEND LIKE ALEXIS ARGUELLO.

I'll say Oscar, just to annoy people.
No, but I would favor him, but it would be a tough fight and I don't trust Oscar when he's in with serious greats.

Wow, who
didn't see that coming?
I'll take up an opinion later, when I've more time...

Here's an idea; elmer, name three good things about Oscar and, goodnight, name three negative things about Oscar. Maybe we can find some common ground.

I think I'd run out at two, IFF
Seriously, though, it wasn't long ago I was arguing (against a De La Hoya fan) De La Hoya wouldn't have beaten a prime Chavez at Jr. Welter, where Oscar was a sensation. I'm not attempting to pass myself off as Mr. Objectivity, but when would Elmer do the equivalent in reverse for Oscar? I think we know the answer.
Btw, Arguello squeaks out the decision over De La Hoya with a surprise knockdown in the final round. 6-5-1, a two-point edge for Arguello. De La Hoya's face'd be pretty messy at the end, & Arguello, I fancy, wouldn't be too interested in a rematch.

De La Hoya wasn't in his prime at 135 (hadn't reached it yet), Arguello was still. IMO it would be a very close fight with the older more experienced Arguello eking out a decision victory in a pretty thrilling fight.
Arguello's best at 140 vs. DLH's best at 140 though, DLH takes it slightly more clearly than Arguello would have at 135, De La Hoya was starting to get into his prime by then.

Agreed that a rematch at 140 would favour Oscar. He had serious hitting power there, too.

I’m not a DLH fan but you got to give him credit. He fought the best of his generation and never ducked anyone. At 135 I would also favor Arguello, but not at 140. I agree with Diamond Weapon and Goodnight, Irene. At 140 DLH would be stronger than Arguello and can take the win.

BULLSHIT, DE LA HOYA cannot carry Arguello's jockstrap. the level of competition of "The Explosive Thin Man" compared to DLH is laughable. One shot by Arguello and the fight is over, at any weight class under 140lbs.

See Elmer's post directly below yours --- apparently, you don't have to give him credit

i always thought arguello was strongest at superfeatherweight
in this hypothetical matchup though, i might have to go with oscar but i dk
it would have to be a young oscar going up against an older alexis
while the de la hoya theory seems most logical i like the way Arguello UD 6-5-1 with a last round knockdown sounds

John John Molina solid Class B+
Rafael Ruelas only one loss and he avenge it Class B
Genaro Hernandez undefeated one draw that he avenged Class B fighter
Jesse James Leija Class B-
Julio C. Chavez Class B+ at the time he fought DLH
Miguel A Gonzalez Class B-
Pernell Whitaker Class A; although I have to admit that I score that fight for Whitaker but I’m a Whitaker fan.
Hector Camacho Class C at the time he fought DLH
Wilfredo Rivera B- fighter
Ike Quartey Class B+
Felix Trinidad Class A- at the time he fought DLH
Shane Mosley Class A
Fernando Vargas Class B-
Bernard Hopkins Class A no shame in losing the him
Floyd Mayweather Class A and the fight was very close
Honorable mentions to Gatti, Campas and Carr.
Like I said DLH fought the best of his generation and in my opinion he is an all time great that does belongs in the IBHOF. And yes I’ll favor DLH at 140 and this is coming from an Alexis Arguello fan. I did follow his career growing up and he was one of my favorites along with Gomez, Escalera, and Duran.

I agree with that borinken. Except for Mayweather-De La Hoya; it was close, but not "very close." De La Hoya-Quartey, on the other hand, was very close, and could have gone to Ike.
And I agree, Whitaker should have won or at least gotten a draw.

Please. What you mean to say is, you don't like him. Your opinion of De La Hoya has nothing to do with his ability & everything to do with the fact he doesn't fit the mould of your Latin warriors of old --- i.e. ugly, uncouth, face-first brawlers with loads of heart & not an ounce of humility.
Problem is, De La Hoya has the heart, but because he is articulate & a pin-up boy for so many women, he's an affront to you. That's what's really going on, here.

With what I don't like him or not it does not have nothing to do with what have you said. I never liked Wilfred Benitez nor Mike Tyson (when he started hanging out with Don King), but to me, those two guys were way better than Oscar.

De La hoya was beatable, but he was better than the majority of the guys listed.
Al Urbina, Suzuki, Paddy DeMarco, Paret?

Come on.

DLH did take on pretty much everyone. The only guy he didn't meet was Kostya, and everyone misses 1 or 2 fighters in their career...
I think DLH is getting unfair criticism.
