But yeh, he went down easy but on the replay you see he steps back, runs out of canvas and his back foot slips oout of the ring and sends him down.

Not only a good chin but looking back in hindsight he had pretty quick hands. He had a stamina problem and a self confidence problem which isn't bloody suprising seeing who he had to face but in all Big Frank had some pretty impressive tools at his disposal.

im not sure about the great chin cos once you are gone you are gone...stood up or not.

franks problem was that, once clocked, his arms dropped and his chin came out to dry. he would have been better off taking a knee for 8 when he was tagged.

despite being a muscle bound big man, frank had a fantastic jab, as good as anything ever seen really, and his straight right hand down the pipe was also very fast, very accurate and very hard...

I think frank is 1 of the best athletes HW boxing has seen, he had attribute to dream about

He fights great in that first round. I dont care what people say, I always preferred Bruno to Lewis. He was more exciting and more powerful. Also in his prime, despite a lack of fluency, he could really got at it, fair amount of speed and plenty of aggression. Lewis bored the hell out of me. Bruno had the better of Lewis in their match, make no mistake about it. But of course, he never won the fight and that that. but people forget just how good Frank was.

You can't say he had a good chin just because he didn't drop to the canvasse every time he took a good shot. His response to a being hurt was to plant his feet and freeze, which cost him worse than taking a count in most of his losses.

However, when you look back at him now and compare him to current heavyweights, not only was he ripped, but he also would have probably cleaned up!

"Get in there Frank!" is right up there with any commentary i can be bothered to recall after 9 beers before breakfast.

I think you can. If you define a poor chin as, you get hit, you go down. That rarely happened to Frank.

He was robotic at worst, but aggressive and fast at best. The double left hook of the jab was good. And that battering ram right....man.

I cant see how he loses to say Ruiz, McCline, Skelton....which puts him into the top ten and the likes of Thompson, Chagaev and Ibrogimovic (Sp) are hardly likely to be big favourites, which puts him, what, in the top 5.

Rahman, Peter, Wladimir....

I think he'd be a very strong contender right now.

Wlad is scared to unload against pitiful types like Brock and Ibragimov.

Imagine if he had a beast like Bruno trying to steam roller him.

It'd be brief.

Bruno's problem was he couldn't recuperate, so when he did start to go that was usually it.

Witherspoon, Smith and to a lesser degree Lewis where all fights that he was on his way to winning, only to fall apart when chin checked.

I think he would do very well in this era of heavies.

Falling unconcious on your feet still counts as a brittle chin though.
Now Tyson had a good chin...

Lennox too - those bombs he went down from would have knocked down a house.

in actual fact bruno had all the tools to beat tyson. he had a powerful jab, he could take anyone out if he caught them flush and could use the strength in his arms to take shots from mike.

but he didnt use the jab enough or well enough. it should have been popping its way into tysons mug with authority from the off. having found tyson off balance he should have cracked in with the right cross. but lack of fluency prevented this gambit.

he had the tools but he didnt really know how to maximise their use.
today he would clean up.
