JC was in a London sport paper and the Sports Guardian pullout spouting this familiar spiel once again.

Is it me, or does it seem extremely wrong to focus on a 4 round novice points loss B-Hop suffered back in the Triassic period? Does JC honestly think it bears any relevance on B-Hop in this fight?

Does JC honestly think hes a prime 1993 Roy Jones Jr? If not, then why even concern himself with this? A 10 year middleweight reign more than redeemed the oldboy.

And whether you think the two Jermain Taylor decisions were debatable (or at least 1of em), B-Hop has more than proven himself by moving up 2 weight classes and whipping 2 southpaws at light-heavy, both of the same age as Calzaghe.

What do you make of JCs dismissive attitude of Hopkins? Think its a very baaaad idea. All i can see is a busted up JC in his post fight interview, smiling sheepishly and saying 'oh he was better than i expected'...

Well, basically, no undefeated fighter in history is a 'legend', bar Rocky Marciano.

Terry Marsh and Sven Ottke aren't.


Calzaghe has been saying a lot of weird stuff in the build-up to this fight, from start to finish, and contradicting himself from day-to-day at times. It's interesting, and sometimes I think he just doesn't know what the fornicate to think.

Read his interview in this months Boxing Monthly to hear him contradict himself about B-Hop repeatedly in the space of 1 and a half pages.

All very weird.

Overhand just be ready to eat the humble pie that I will be serving you on Sunday - I think we all know you fancy Hopkins to bash Calzaghe up, which why you are grabbing hold of any tiny issue to support your own arguement.

Don't go disappearing on Sunday ;)

Calzaghe would of whipped Tarver and stopped Winky anyway. Winky opens up when volume punched and Calzaghe's better than Soliman obviously.

Tarver's lack of stamina was made for Hopkins to easily counter him all night.

Hopkins shouldn't of lost to Taylor but he did.

People are reading far too much into what the fighters say.

Come tommorow night, the words will be meaningless.

Yes we have heard some rubbish from the Calzaghes. However, Overhand Right, have you never heard Hopkins talk mindless drivel? What about the way Bernard is going to "torture and terrorise" Calzaghe?

Both sides say whatever they say to deal with the situation they're in. I don't like to see Joe and Enzo just slag off an opponent, ie "he's old", "he's 43", "please come to fight." That makes it sound like he's not prepared to go after a defensive wizard. However it might just be a part of their ego and winner's arrogance. When you're lacking in that you have Woods vs Tarver.

Joe looked happy and Hopkins looked relaxed in front of the last head to head. They look good, they seem to feel good, either seems intimidated by the other. These are two long time champs who seem to believe in themselves.

Agreed but just feel JCs contradictory statements in interviews and obsessing over B-Hops age & ancient losses make him sound like he's reasoning with himself, as if he needs reasons why he can beat him.

Tis all very strange, i say.

Winky Isn't a natural Light Heavy or Super Middle, Winky can't be compared to Calzaghe's best opponents who were natural 12 stone fighters.

Winky's flat footed pressure behind a tight guard style is made for Joe.

Down to styles not names.

Kessler could Ko Winky too too big and strong.

I agree that some fans read too much into what fighters say.

JC’s retorts are most likely a means to not let Hopkins have free reign in the lip department.

Hopkins stole a march in the psycho babble starting at the PBF-Hatton weigh-in and followed it up with the usual hype. Has he got under JC’s skin in his first comfort free big fight arena? I guess we will have to wait and see.

I am really looking forward to this fight now as an event. Both fighters seem relaxed and confident and it is going to be very interesting to see how it all unfolds.

If Joe does well, hopefully he hasn't disrespected his own achievement. Afterwards will he say, "All I did was beat an old man"?
