Boxrec dear chap if you know either myself or Rhino you will know we like the odd wind upboxrec wrote:What the hell does that mean..Spud wrote:Is your village missing you - or is the pound you thought you had short by a penny?boxrec wrote: Its not easy with all these alphabet titles in todays boxing.![]()
Anyway, all i wanted to say was that Mcdermott has one a domestic title, no point in going mad about it
God shout about McDermott and WilliamsTerribleTerry wrote:He did well last night - he swamped poor old Pele with shots once he had him rocked and sustained the pressure needed to get the stoppage.
If you weighed the pair up before the fight started you would be preying that John didnt get hurt too badly, such is the disparity in their physiques.
John proved, however, that a well grounded, technically competent fighter holds the aces over the wilder, disjointed style that Pele employs. It was a case of substance over flair in the end.
I was a little disappointed that Pele didnt look more fluid and compact in their last night; it would seem that not even Len and Ritchie Woodhall can iron out his stylistic flaws!
Would be niec to see John in with Danny Williams for the British on the back of his excellent performance last night but does he have he self belief/drive to boss the division domestically? I dont think he does, despite his ability and physical tools.
no complaints from Pele or his corner, although he was on his fet and was holding onto Big John for all he was worth when they called it off.Old bones Ian wrote:What happened last night in the fight? i see it was a 2nd round KO, but was it an early stoppage?
beat me to it Rhino - I was about to post the exact same post - almost word for word.rhino222 wrote:macdoughnut v williams is a ridiculous call, if skelton owned macdoughnut in a minute or so then danny would do exactly the same, no way is macdermott ready to be let loose against williams, not now not ever, 20% of danny williams ko's macdoughnut.
macdoughnut v rogan is a better call.
British title has only been about since 1895, English since 2003! Only been fought over 5 times, McDermott is 1-1 in English title fights.boxrec wrote:Its not easy with all these alphabet titles in todays boxing.rhino222 wrote:yes...thats why i questioned it...dam misleading buffoon..
Styles make fights Rhino and McDemott's compact and tidy style could see him fair ok against Danny (depending which Danny turned up of course!)rhino222 wrote:macdoughnut v williams is a ridiculous call, if skelton owned macdoughnut in a minute or so then danny would do exactly the same, no way is macdermott ready to be let loose against williams, not now not ever, 20% of danny williams ko's macdoughnut.

you are mad, if the fight is made then macdermott gets wasted within 3 rounds....100 quid of mine says so !!TerribleTerry wrote:Styles make fights Rhino and McDemott's compact and tidy style could see him fair ok against Danny (depending which Danny turned up of course!)rhino222 wrote:macdoughnut v williams is a ridiculous call, if skelton owned macdoughnut in a minute or so then danny would do exactly the same, no way is macdermott ready to be let loose against williams, not now not ever, 20% of danny williams ko's macdoughnut.

REmember Williams dismissing Kali Meehan in 30 secs? Who would have thought the Kiwi would go on to give a decent showing in a heavyweight title fight?
I give Big John his dues - he has the size (although not all of it effective weight) and the skills to give any domestic heavy an argument. The skelton shocker was an abberation in my eyes, nothing more.
Steady on Rhino - I might have been impressed with McDermott's skills and finishing last night but I have seen nothing in his attitude or mental make up that will see me back him with my hard earned!rhino222 wrote:you are mad, if the fight is made then macdermott gets wasted within 3 rounds....100 quid of mine says so !!TerribleTerry wrote:Styles make fights Rhino and McDemott's compact and tidy style could see him fair ok against Danny (depending which Danny turned up of course!)rhino222 wrote:macdoughnut v williams is a ridiculous call, if skelton owned macdoughnut in a minute or so then danny would do exactly the same, no way is macdermott ready to be let loose against williams, not now not ever, 20% of danny williams ko's macdoughnut.
