What do you consider the best 3 performances by a British fighter are - it doesn't have to be a shock win - and it doesn't necessarily have to be a fighter winning abroad or anything like that.

Just 3 performances that made you think - bloody hell - that was a good win!!!

I'd go for:

Turpin v Ray Robinson
Hatton v Tszyu
Honeyghan v Curry

All exceptional wins. Would probably have to rank the Turpin win as the greatest followed by Honeyghan's victory. Curry was a super boxer at that time. Not totally convinced that Hatton beat a peak Tszyu but it was still an exceptional win.

i agree with the choice, although i would lose Hatton and put in Kirkland Laings victory over Roberto Duran

I am sure some of the wiser posters like Bennie, MW etc will come up with some better ones

Frank Bruno W KO 1 Chuck Gardener! Monaco or wherever the farce was held

Maurice Hope W RSF 15 Vito Antuofermo - Rome Italy for the EBU light middleweight title.

Jim Watt W PTS 15 Perico Fernandez in Madrid Spain for the EBU lightweight title

Ken Buchanan W PTS 15 Ismael Laguna in San Juan Puerto Rico for the world lightweight title.

Sprotty outboxing that big mug Virchis in Austria, only to be jobbed out of the desicion!

I know he was favourite but McGuigan's win over Pedroza was also very impressive. Special night.

Great lists. I would add Calzaghe v Lacy onto the aforementioned lists.

To be a bit different, these guys didn't win but weren't expected to and put in great performances.

Colin Jones against favoured Milton McCrory at welter, two hard matches, a draw and split decision loss in Reno and Las Vegas.
Jim McDonnell against the great Azumah Nelson super feather.
Pat Cowdell against the great Salvador Sanchez feather, 15 rounds split decision loss in Houston.

Lennox Lewis v Razor Ruddock was a spectacular win at the time.

McAuley vs. Bassa was one of the first fights I ever watched and was a corking performance.

Cant believe no ones mentioned Benn-McCellan. Obviously Honeyghan-Curry and Turpin-Robinson.

Which was Lennoxs best performance/win? Holyfield 1 (Holy was P4P top 5 then), Ruddock (top3 fighter destroyed), Rahman (couldnt have a more comprehensive revenge, not many HW Champs beat the man who dethrones them)

One that stood out at the time for me was Pat Barrett going to Italy and KO'ing unbeaten Efrem Calamati in 4 rounds.

Barrett had it all, shame he never quite lived up to it.

But i did see he was ringside at the recent Khan fight. Hopefully he's left his problems behind

Two honourable mentions.
Calzaghe vs Lacy
Hamed vs Baddillo.

Buchanan's wins over Laguna are right up there for me, as is Stracey's over Napoles. The hostile atmosphere for both could have been overwhelming.

Laing over Duran is almost as good, as was Clazaghe's flawless performance against Lacy.

They are the three or four best in my mind.

One that rarely gets mentioned is Conteh's win over Yaqui Lopez.

Lopez gave Saad Muhammed and Galindez terrible struggles, yet he was almost shut-out by Conteh; who had not fought in over a year after breaking his hand and used only his left-jab over fifteen rounds

Also Jack Berg beating Kid Chocolate.That was a huge upset at the time.

Honeyghun was punch perfect that night... Curry P4P number 1, Curry is one of my all time faves - but I think Hagler was the #1 at that stage.

Eubank/Wharton.. Eubank was incredible that night..

Jack Kid Berg beating Chocolate at the time was massive, I remember it well

he boxed brilliantly and was deffo worth his NO.1 middleweight in the world rep at the time.
