this is my last thread on the subject ....stretching my credibility to the limit..but .......

wat is this 'scared' thing ?

:-?
maccarinelli looked terrified against Haye

scott dann was almost crying against eastwood

but no one called for them to quit the game.

after the blow out by williams....kali meehan went on to give brewster a fright.....then looked completely brittle against rahman.....then came back to trounce davarryll

audley and meehan are very similar in that they might just pull off something ...................? :box:

I think he worries about his conditioning and his punch resistance. I think he is scared of getting tagged and this goes right back to the Ellis fight and further on to Williams, Guinn etc and the fight with Sprott proved he has good reason to doubt his chin!

The problem has been the Grand Canyon like gap between where Audley tought he was - Olympic Gold Medallist and World Champ elect - and what he was prepared to work for and deliver.

It has been said before on this forum and was repeated last night - Audley is delusional and dishonest with himself.

I don't want him to wallow and disappear into some personal abyss whilst others laugh and say I told you so whilst not giving a shit, but he really needs to be realistic with himself, first and foremost, and salvage some realistic pride.

Despite all the disappointments I wish him well.

It seems as if some people want to see Harrison battered &/or humiliated. :-?

Harrison has been timid & gun-shy for a long time.

He has proven a more than 1 occasion that his stamina is average at best.

The Sprott fight should be the biggest clue to tell his devotees that the game is up.

They talk about his confident & impressive start, but they fail the see how his workrate began to drop & how he looked terrified everytime that Sprott launched himself at Harrison, everytime Harrison stopped punching.

Harrison never got KO'd because Sprott landed a lucky punch; he got KO'd because he was petrified of getting hit (because he was tiring) & he tensed up, so he couldn't box properly.

A boxer cannot fight properly if he is scared & tensed up.

Audley has been scared of Danny Williams, Michael Sprott & Dominic Negus (I could name more), hardly legends of boxing.

Surely this is proof enough to back-up the critics like me who say he should retire. :-?

I have nothing against Audley per se; he's never done me any harm: I just do not want to see a fighter seriously hurt & I really believe that could happen to him as his is terrified of getting hit.

He promised all this crap to the UK fans and I'll quote "I'll be British Champion within 5 fights."

He took £1,000,000 off the British TV licensing payer to not deliver his on promise.

He’s an arrogant kunt. Who has nothing to be arrogant about. At least Ali was good enough to back up his mouth, and no one likes people who talk in 3rd person.

Boo hoo. I would take £1,000,000 of the license payer if I could. Why do people mention the BBC deal like it is something awful Audley did? Who wouldn't take their money?

Should Harrison be renamed Elderado Harrison?

I think it's because the BBC dropped boxing like a hot potato after the con job Harrison pulled. Good for Harrison/bad for the BBC and the British boxing fans.

Personally his mouthyness is not all endearing. Eubank and Naz rubbed people up the wrong way but they were in entertaining matches too which made it ok.

BBC didnt drop boxing just because of Harrison, can we just get this stupid suggestion out of our heads. If Harrison was that bad, then they would drop Harrison alone and keep showing Haye and Hennessy. Also your saying its so bad for the BBC, but I bet Harrison in his last 3 BBC fights pulled in more viewers than the fights Haye and Froch were having at the time.

The BBC made the mistake of offering too much for a guys first 10 fights, but your blaming Audley for this? And saying he's a con artist for fighting not so good opponents in his first 10 fights, like more or less every boxer does.

The day you'd turn down 1 million quid for your first 10 fights is the day hell freezes over.

The BBC were persuaded to get back into British boxing due to Audley's star power from the Olympics, they weren't interested in building up British contenders like Haye & Froch whose viewing figures couldn't compare due to a much lower profile.
Harrison's figures were dropping off fight after fight and the BBC wouldn't be able to carry on showing boxing shows with relative unknowns.

As i've said before Harrison's greatest success of his pro career was getting £1M out of the BBC and he should be congratulated for it.
British boxing paid a price but Audley shouldn't be apologetic for that but he should recognise the antipathy it's brought him when combined with his personality & performances.

Once he'd signed the big contract, he banged on about himself in the third person "A-Force" this and "A-Force" that... how he was gonna be the next heavyweight champ of the world etc etc, coming across as really confident in his ability.
Fear and nerves on your way in is one thing, but when you're 6'5 and twenty stone and the guy in front is four stones and six inches smaller, and you won't get involved in any kind of fight starts to ask questions about your heart.
He got the BBC contract and money on the basis of his promotional appeal which was underpinned by his claims and quotes, as well as his physique and obvious skill. He came across as thinking he was better than a lot of up and coming pros doing things properly, but then looked petrified in any kind of contest and showed no heart whatsoever.
Noone can knock him for the quality of his opposition in his first few fights, but with his age and money we'd all expected that he'd be progressing much more quickly than he was. The average bloke in the street thinks 'I'd fight my heart out for £1m' - Audley was twice the size of most and simply didn't show guts, and that's why he gets a bad rap.

I think the BBC dropped boxing cause they'd spunked their budget too easily and realised that the money involved and lack of certainty for the investment mean that they'd be better spending it elsewhere! Although that's not down to Harrison, he's a factor.

And I agree totally, but you can't blame the licence payer for feeling a bit shortchanged when he completely failed to deliver. The money wasn't the awful thing, it was the product he returned!! I'm sure if he's a realist he'd be happy enough to take the flak too, it's hardly vitriolic hatred in the street.

I totally agree with this, he should retire. He only has himself to blame for a piss poor career.

by DIRT SUGAR
Dirt Sugar thinks Audley should use his brains for business (hasn't he done well out of property) and keep what brain cells he has for that and not looking gun-shy against low-level opposition.

To be fair he was back after a devastating knockout and a bad accident.

Also, what people don't realise is look at that big scar on his shoulder. That is what really set him back. Taking part in some gym 'toughman' competition and really doing it some damage lifting weights.

Advanced age when he started fighting as a pro plus trying to promote himself and be a celebrity took away his chance to develop.

Dirt thinks it's too late now Aud. Sorry. But how many guys can say they were Olympic champ. Never take that away from him.
