Righto, we'll put it to the vote.

Please submit your top ten all time best British fighters, active or retired, any weight. The stipulation 'British' is that they must be listed as United Kingdom fighters on the Boxrec Ratings. This is to save arguments, hopefully.

a fighter placed 1st will recieve 10 points, the fighter placed tenth, 1 point.
the points will be tallied, and I will let youse know what the final result is.

Deadline for lists will be Wednesday 30th April, 0800 GMT. I should be able to tally them that evening.

I think you cannot underestimate the "eight divisions" and "one world champion" of the pre 60s.

Modern champions may have lots of defences but how many can be considered undisputed....

For example would Joe have been a world champion at all if there was no super middle division and he had to fight RJJ in 1997

Moran, Benn and Hamed crossed the pond and knocked out top Yanks, something which the likes of Lennox, Hatton and Calzaghe didn't do... (Moran got two draws with Abe Attell! Benn definitely bettered Eubank in the rematch)

Kid Berg, Barry, Lloyd, Hatton all somewhat one-hit wonders...

Buchanan going close with the lb4lb best world fighter ever in the lb4lb best world fighter ever's physical peak, and having to be hit low, counts for a lot for me...

Some fighters refuse to give rematches (Calzaghe-Reid, etc)... the Kid Lewis fought the incredible Jack Britton about 300 times... and rumour has it was robbed against the amazing, masterful all-timer Benny Leonard (according to Washington Post and Calgary Herald!)... won titles from bantamweight to heavyweight or something stupid... and clearly was robbed against the greatest European fighter ever George Carpentier, taking a sucker punch ala Rocchigiani-Michalczewski...

Post war - and I put it at that because we are all to reliant on what has been printed in the various publications prior to that to form a decent opinion concerning other eras - in addition with the glare of the media and TV nowadays I feel boxers are under a lot more glare nowadays to form an even better opinion than boxers from yesterday year.

I only have 3 - one has surprised me because I feel he has to be there and that is Calzaghe:

Those three in my view deserve to be there and in my opinion for many reasons deserve to be there and are the best from the 1970's onwards!!!

Lets not under estimate Watts win over Howard Davis jr.,who was supposed to never lose. Huge underdog going into that was Jim,and giving away an awful lot in terms of natural talent.
