Hatton on schedule.

RICKY HATTON is ahead of time as he sheds the pounds for his comeback bout.
The Hyde-based Hitman is already down to 10st 10lbs a month before he hits the 10st limit at which he will take on American opponent, Juan Lazcano, at the City of Manchester Stadium on May 24.
Dad Ray, who is also Ricky's manager, said: "This is one massive fight, probably the most important in his career. He is well ahead in terms of fitness and weight, already down to 150lbs.
"Ricky is under tremendous pressure because not only is he returning from his first career defeat but will be watched by 55,000 fans.
"Most people pick a right mug for their return and try to keep it low key, but full marks to Ricky, who wants to thank his supporters.
"Ricky was beaten by argu- ably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and there are issues about that fight we're unhappy about.
"It will be very, very tense against Lazcano. Ricky is looking on one or two variations in his routine, trying out a few new things."
Hatton, back at light- welterweight after moving up a division to face Floyd Mayweather in December, rejected offers from US cable companies to televise his top-of-the-bill fight because it would have meant the bout taking place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
More details about the under card will be announced early next month, but his brother Matthew, will take on Failsworth's Craig Watson.
Is he serious or what?
Lazcano is really a LW fighter, not a natural LWW. There are many other fighters out there that would have given Ricky a tougher assignment than Lazcano will. No disrespect to Lazcano by the way.
Anyone know Hatton's purse for the bout?

I hope Laszcano is well up for this.
I also hope Ricky is sparring not lifting mountains in the gym.
I also hope he's remembering to jab and move his head.
Not that he'll need worry with Laszcano, but i this is to be anything other than a chance to collect a major payday with minimal risk then he ought to be trying to rediscover his principle strength as opposed to becoming a walk forward, shot taking strong man yet again.

I'm proud to say this will be the first PPV I won't buy since I got back into boxing, about 7 years ago.

I really can't see the bout with Witter ever happening. I mean, Junior is what, 33/34, & has stated he will move to WW if he doesn't get the big fights soon. If he does move to Welter, I hope he won't be avoided, because that would be very discouraging to Witter.
Meanwhile, I wonder what odds a bookies would give me for Hatton-Witter to never materialise?

Lazcarno seems like a pretty decent opponent for a first fight after a loss, and a fight back at the lower weight.

He's roughly on a par with Hamed's comeback opponent after the Barrera defeat (Manuel Calvo). Acceptable after a loss, but - as with the Naz fight - no way should this be PPV.

It would be accceptable if Hatton were more than a part time fighter but if he is only going to bother his lazy blubber-arse every six months he needs to fight better than an over the hill lightweight glad of the payday. He also needs to drop the gassbagging about how great he is and how much he wants to fight the best, because he has begun to look a bit silly by doing so!

he had 3 fights last year.
hardly that lazy.
2006 was disappointing in only having the 1.
would have been 2 but for HBO's scheduling.
it's a disappointing comeback opponent though.
and i'm someone that thinks lazcano is a fairly good fighter.

if there any chance at all of hatton coming in having suffered from his weight rollercoaster all these years, suddenly looking flat and tired, and a well-motivated Lazcano having the night of his life and beating him?
It's not unforeseeable. I can definitely see hatton growing old overnight with all his weight nonsense and recent loss.

Castillo only went 4 rounds to not tell that much.

Hatton will just throw him around the ring and hit him with a few body shots out of clinches to slow him down. Like he's always done, really, at light-welter.

But had it been 2 in 06, it would have been2 in 07.
You can't have it both ways.
Hatton doesn't fight often enough to maintain his rythmn, form etc.
Oh, I'm tired of talking about it. I aint spending £15 on it. For sure. I've bought them all....but I'm noit buying this...its a piss take.

As far as I know it is on. Plus was mooted prior to Craig's loss. Winnable fight for a title, you may need a new stick with which to beat him.
...or a new hat.
