Amir Khan has announced his next fight will take place on 21 June at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.

Khan beat Martin Kristjansen in their WBO world lightweight title eliminator earlier this month.

It will be the 21-year-old Commonwealth and WBO Intercontinental lightweight champion's first professional bout in England's second city.

"I've boxed in most of the major cities in Britain and I'm excited that my next fight will be in Birmingham," he said.

"I get fan mail from all around the country but the majority I receive is from Birmingham and the question is always the same: 'when are you going to fight in here?'

"I've boxed there as an amateur and I know that the fans are very passionate and love their boxing, so I'm expecting a great turn out from the public to make it a great night."

Dont know where this was reported as Iv just nicked this from a mate who posted on another board and didnt site his reference.

Hopefully SN will give Don Broadhurst a meaningful, learning fight on the undercard.

Thomas Costello should be on the card as well, along side a few more local ticket sellers to give the show some atmosphere outside of the main event.

It will be good to finally see a SN show back in Brum!

I hope it's merely the start of big boxing events returning to Birmingham. We've got a few talented amateur stars aswell, so there's a lot of potential for big fights returning to Brum for the long term!

Has Frank reneged twice on "We will fight for the European title or go to America" for the next fight?

Do they have the balls to fight Romanov, who personally seems the next natural step and will have Khan much better prepared for this world fight that's coming up at the end of the year.

Fiver each way on Aldo Riod to be the next opponent for me. Double that up with Campbell being made to vacate the WBO, and Khan fights Peterson for the vacant strap.

I can't see it being Romanov although that would be a great next step.

Dont be ridiculous, he will fight Bobby Gunn for the Vacant strap, with Steve Collins telling us how Amir will win because he has been beating World class operators for years now.

FW has already stated it aint romanov and it aint for a world title

Looks like its shaping up well, what with Paul Smith-Stevie Bendall for the English title on the undercard. Good to see Martin Concepcion will also feature.
