IBF and WBO world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has met with Londoner David Haye to discuss a possible title showdown this year.
The pair went for a meal on Thursday night to talk about the fight.
The Ukrainian told BBC London 94.9: "He is looking forward to switching to heavyweight, but it's not an easy step.
"There are exceptions like [Evander] Holyfield, who was a very successful heavyweight, so we'll see what David Haye is going to do."
Klitschko wants the fight to be in London.
"I'm looking forward to fighting in London again, because London, like Great Britain in general, has such a great boxing community, it's amazing." Haye plans to vacate his cruiserweight titles in the next few months as he prepares to step up to the heavyweight division.

Unless it's a three-way battle with Povetkin, I'll believe it when I see it. The IBF won't allow David to jump the queue.

But the WBO will.

But Wlad would get stripped. The eliminator was early 2008, after all. Povetkin will have to wait until 2009, then.

If he can beat Rahman who he has mooted a fight with then that is the IBF no. 3 so he should be pretty close to a shot anyhow

Povetkin and Thompson are the mandatories that Wlad fights this year.
Haye is just getting his name linke with Wlad to get ppl talking at the very least, at best to set up a fight when it can be made.
All sounded very civillised!

Wonder if they had tea and scones? Hold the cream for Dave.
To be honest, this is pretty lazy journalism: "London's world cruiserweight champion David Haye has held talks with world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko over a possible title fight this year."
Nothing in the article backs this up.

World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko says undisputed cruiserweight champion David Haye ‘is nuts’ for wanting to fight him. The IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight titleholder thinks that the Briton first needs to prove himself as a genuine heavyweight contender. Speaking to Setanta Sports News, Klitschko said, "I met this guy yesterday. I’d never heard of him before but he was so loud that I could have heard his voice overseas. He’s a nice guy but he’s so excited about his career and moving up to the heavyweight division and winning all the titles. He’s definitely got a good punch and is a great boxer but he’s just so loud it’s unbelievable. The one thing that he does have already, though, is that he’s very self-confident. He has to have a couple of good fights at heavyweight and, after that, who knows? If he continues to do well then maybe we will fight each other. Maybe Great Britain is going to have the next undisputed heavyweight champion of the world – but only after I retire.”

Going to dinner with someone you have designs on beating up is kind of weird IMO.

God help us!!! last time the Klitschko's were in London was way back in 2000 when Wladimir fought Monty Barret on the undercard of the Lewis/Botha show - Rhino had the pleasure of driving them around - I am told whenever a young lady came in close proximity it was a race whether Rhino or the brothers noticed first.
They were bloody brilliant blokes - tipped nicely too !!!

Think I agree with Klitschko but I hope Haye would win If they thought. Haye should trash talk him only when he's training to fight him.
