Floyd Sr on Calzaghe Jr

Even though Calzaghe won the fight, I don't see the punch count that they was talking about. I don't see all of that man. What punch count are you talking about man? He ain't even do shit; he's the worst fighter I've ever saw in my life. I wouldn't pay $5 to see him. I'm serious man, this guy cannot fight. He's worse than a novice fighter for real. He's like a junior fighter; he fights like a beginner man. He can't punch at all. That fight didn't look good at all. Whoever rates him as one of the greatest fighters of today's era, man trust me…I don't give a damn how many fights he wins, that man don't know how to fight. He throws punches like a wash woman.

The only fight he has seen is the Hopkins one, so his opinion is irrelevant.

Hopkins also won on all of my cards. My live card, my replay card, my HBO card, my third Setanta card, and my HBO replay card.

Hopkins lost clearly on most people's cards. Even website polls show that. Hopkins just didnt do enough. However I can understand his point of view somewhat if this is the only fight of Joe's he's ever seen. Just a bit silly talk so conclusively about a fighter without seeing much more.

It required a lot of effort, but I was looking at facial expressions of Leonard, Khan, and Maccarinelli as well on other takes. I don't know why.

It would be hard for any fighter to look good against Hopkins. He is very good at spoiling a fighters tactics. I'm sure Floyd snr watched the Lacy fight and doesn't really think Joe is the worst fighter he has ever seen. Joe won on my card. From round 4 onwards it was his fight. He did well to come back from that knockdown.

I watched it twice to make sure that I thought Joe won. I do think he won, only just.
These negative reactions on forums and by Lewis and Floyd Sr are GREAT - it shows Joe has some work to do.
It shows the seniors tour (Jones, Trinidad) is NO WAY acceptable, not for an elite boxer coming off such an ugly win.
I want to see him in two real fights: one at super middle vs Pavlik or Miranda (if Miranda beats Abraham in the rematch sensationally); one at light heavy vs Glen Johnson.
Go in the proper fights, where ppl actually trade punches. Don't go after another old codger who is thinking defence first (Jones). Someone that you have another game of tag-and-smother. Have a fight where the opponent is slinging bombs at you, an intense physical fight that will bring out your advantages in punching speed, that will show your assets off.

Well I wouldn't except Warren etc to be wanting Bute - but I would like to have think that some of the forum members here could see that this fight is possibly the best in terms of his legacy/most dangerous fight.
One of two (including me I must add) have suggested a Kessler rematch.... thats not going to do big numbers globally.

Yeah I did, but Joe officially got past that one... many people even at the time were saying the Bute and Kessler are on a par with each other as to who is going to suceed Joe.
Joe's got past Kessler, now its Bute's turn. Kessler vs Calzaghe didn't do well in the states, so I doubt Kessler vs Calzaghe 2 would do better.
Hopkins is a different scenario to Kessler, cause 1) Hopkins is a much bigger name 2) Far more people think Hopkins beat Joe, than think that Kessler did anything (a draw or a win).
I think there is unfinished business with Kessler also, but I know I am on my own there.
