Supposedly fighting Ciaran Healy (who holds the title)

Martin Rogan fighting on the undercard as well as the Hyland brothers and Gary O'Sullivan who are really starting to make noises

I thought it was James Moore not Jamie Moore.

Jamie Moore fights on the Hatton undercard as we all know - a definite date, opponent and location of fight thereafter has not been finalised yet with regards to Jamie's future fights thereafter.

I think Maloney has until June to stage the European title fight, so why would they be looking for Ciaran Healy for the Irish title?

I find this very hard to swallow.

Moore v Healy for the Irish title makes no sense at all.

James Moore is targetting Ronald Hearns over in the US so I dont think its a case of mistaken identity either..

Bizarre story

It could simply be a fight to keep Moore busy. No offence to Healy, a brave fighter who has done well to win the Irish belt, but he isn’t known for his durability. Moore could easily dismiss him inside the first couple of rounds.

apparently Jamie's mother is Irish and he is over in Ireland a couple of times a year.

The only reason I can see him fighting for this title is if he is forgetting about the European title and making a move to the US - the Irish title carries plenty of cache in America.

This is such a bad move. He should fight for euro, irish title a backward move

No disrespect mate, but I find that very hard to believe. I don't think either register that much over the pond but at least the British title has traditionally been perceived as a stepping stone towards European and World title honours.

Actually now that I have read it - what you are saying doesnt stand up.

1. Mooresy (not Morresy) post was 18th of April.

2. The Irish News article was posted on 23rd of April

3. On 26th of April another Irish journo elsewhere said

1 - Jamie Moore has has so many setbacks through no fault fo his own that he has been inactive since Octiber 2007.
His guaranteed European title shot, promoted by Frank Maloney, is in no way affected. An Irish appearance as well as appearing on the Hatton undercard in May is perfect preparation for that Euro shot. He loses nothing and gains an Irish title if successful.

2 - National TV exposure is something he has never had in Britain. A wildly exciting fighter (the Macklin and Jones wars are testament to this), he is largely unknown outside hardcore fight fans. I can see why he would be keen.

3 - Ciaran Healy is one of the reasons the sport goes on. Usually cannon-fodder for rising stars, Healy is instead getting the best payday of his career. He's already training like a mad fella, I hear. Good for him, it's always good to see fellas like him looked after financially.
