One competitor had a huge tattoo of Christ's face on his back and the camera zoomed in on the tattoo. On entering the ring, the fighter crossed himself. Merv exclaimed "neither will do him any good if he can't fight".

Another wheelbarrow quote:

"He's like the boy with the wheelbarrow, he's got the job in front of him".

"That bloke couldn't run out of sight on a dark night." (of a slow fighter)

"He hit him on the deaf and dumb." (A low blow well behind the scoring line.)
