DONT JUDGE ME, BUT I MUST CONFESS A DARK SECRET

I secretly yearn for Audley Harrison to, against all logic, prove all his detractors wrong & win the heavyweight title.

Now that my carer has loosened my restraints, allow me to type up my very weak case to you all, that is riddled with holes and contradictions.

Check out these results ladies:

John Ruiz L12 Dannel Nicholson & LKO1 David Tua (19 seconds)

Shannon Briggs LKO3 Darroll Wilson & L8 Sedrick Fields

Wladimir Klitschko LKO11 Ross Puritty

Oleg Maskaev LKO2 Lance Whitaker & LKO8 T-Rex Sanders

Lamon Brewster L10 Charles Shufford

Sergei Lyakovich LKO9 Maurice Harris

----

Come on fellas. If anyone had come on Boxrec making a serious case for any of these guys to later pick up a title at the time of these results, we'd be on the phone to Broadmoore sharpish.

Looking at how all of these guys recovered from diabolical losses, do you really think an Olympic gold medallist with some size & skills still cant turn it all around?

Thoughts?

Audley's a decent (not world-class) boxer with no fight in him. Most of those guys listed were natural fighters who, despite being limited, wouldn't have been changed mentally by their defeats. I agree, it's not the 70s, and no heavyweight is anything special - but Audley couldn't even win a British title. I'd still take Guinn to beat him again and Guinn's a trialhorse/journeyman nowadays. It just ain't gonna happen for Big Aud unfortunately.

True. But those same shots could have been thrown in the first round and the effect would've been the same. The fact that Audley didn't want to take the chance to throw those shots against an opponent like that tells you where the guy's mind is. He only went for it after getting clocked himself by a right hand. Very strange performance.

I can't believe anyone would have been impressed by that waltz. He's now even more gunshy than he was before being KO'd. Understandable really considering his previous mental makeup. People are kidding themselves if they think he'll do anything, Skelton who has fallen short of world title level himself would absolutely destroy Harrison. Imagine Big Matt plodding forward throwing constantly. Harrison would either shit his shorts of have a coronary.

You really think Wladimir, Shannon and Oleg are natural fighters?

I don't.

John Ruiz very mentally tough. The rest of them.... All very suspect mindframes.

Oleg was on a low in the early 2000s, with a good new trainer and a gradual rehab stint he was brought back. The whacks he took in Rahman II looked far heavier than anything T-rex or Whiatker planted on him.

Just for fun anyway.

You reckon? I'd give Mcdermott a decent chance of taking him out to be honest.

Overhand, if you can Critisize Khan, but Big Up Audley.. then.... wow

Whats a 'big up'? I dont speak that language.

Audley lost to 3 guys who have competed in world class- Williams, Sprott and Guinn.

Whos Amir been in with again? Graham Earl?

Williams & Sprott put Audley on the floor, Amir was there courtesy of Willie Limond!!

Oh dear.

I think Khan has definitely made progress whereas Audley never made any - simple as that. Even if Khan's chin will probably get shown up, he is at least fighting with some vitality, some killer instinct, and is fighting respected opponents like Limond, Earl and St Clair and getting a world ranking. Yes there is the fact that these crappy fights are being made like Kristjansen and the forthcoming WBF/WBO Intercontintal whatever it is, but America is also interested in Khan, with the whole GBP/Planet Hollywood thing.

Agreed, and I agree with the sentiment of the thread.

Terry is the only man who saw positives in the Sprott fight, lest we forget

Audleys finest moment:

Remember after the fight he intimated it was a premature stoppage. Hahaha.

As for comparing Khan with Harrison that is utterly ludicrous. Whatever your thoughts on Khan he has shown heart and fighting instincts in his fights and is more than happy to get involved in exchanges. Nothing like the meek showings Harrison has produced on the whole.

I think that all of the guys you've mentioned had one thing over Fraudley - heart. The fact is, he has the tools to do very well, but when the chips are down, he backs off and tries his damnedest not to get hurt...

No one thought Shannon had heart after Wilson flattened him.

Who thinks Wladimir has heart?

Have to agree. As I have said before, if you could somehow put Harrison and Skelton into a mould and produce one fighter from the two, you would have a World champion for sure. Harrison will NEVER be a World champion.

What do you mean? He's a former WBF Heavyweight Champion Of The World I'll have you know.

When I first saw Harrison I didnt like the way he backed off. He was never willing to commit and seemed afraid of being hit. I have seen big guys working the doors who could fight but froze when there was trouble. On the other hand I have worked with bouncers who would go in and take on known hardcases without even thinking about it. You either have it in you or you dont and Harrison hasnt got it. He has the skills but just isnt brave enough. David Haye on the other hand will take the fight to anyone, he has the skills and the will to fight and win. Another thing with Harrison is his open style and Sprotty exploited that. Never mind the bollocks about it being a lucky punch. Harrison is not even British level so its nonesense to talk about being a World champion.
