Has Cotto ever faced a natural welterweight?

Margarito made this point, and upon first thought I couldn't think of any natural weight fighter he has fought, even when he was at light welter...

Can anyone enlighten me? Big lightwelters don't count either. I'm talking about those with the height and reach.

Gomez. Not that he was in Cotto's class by any means... but he was a natural welter. I don't think Quintana has boxed below welter either....

Alfonso Gomez was a Welter - coming down from Light Middle.

Carlos Quintana - Career Welter with height and reach.

Shane Mosley - okay..Originally fought as a Lightweight, but has a hight and reach and has been a champion at Light middle.

Only Gomez. Gomez made this point himself which is why i was so impressed with the way Cotto crushed him i was expecting Gomez to be outclassed but stand up to the pounding since he has fought super middles.

Quintana only fought once at Light Welter so he should probably be counted too.

Anyone who says that Mosley is not a 'natural' welter is an idiot.

There's nothing natural about him at Welter and above.

Balco anyone?

Bit daft this.

Cotto was a career long lightweight as an amateur and then turned pro at 140...

..so a case can be put forward for him not being a Welter himself.

He's certainly had far more fights at 140 than 147 hasn't he ?

Like others say, Gomez is a tough kid and fought bigger fighters his whole career.

Yet he fought a man coming up in weight really - and he was destroyed !
