Calzaghe vacates WBC

Because he doesn't want to fight Froch.

Now he understands Steve Collins's situation back in the day... abit of a hypocrit.

Hardly the same. Calzaghe has moved up to Light Heavyweight and his next fight is going to be up there. There is no way he could fulfil the mandatory with his current schedule.

Not really. Calzaghe is just looking for a big fight to end his career on. Froch can't provide that. Simple really.

He's to busy Old man..i mean.. Legend Killing

He's giving up the first meaningful belts he's won in 15 years to avoid big-money mandatories the public want to see. It makes me sick the way this fraud has constructed his career.

Hardly pathetic, if he fights Roy Jones he'll get 10 - 20 million, if he fights Froch he might get a million. I wonder how money of us wouldn't do the same thing.
Don't get me wrong, I want to see these domestic fights as much as anyone else - but at the end of the day Calzaghe and Hatton will make probably 75% more by fighting names from outside of the UK, and I think calling them Cowardly or Pathetic is a bit harsh for doing what 99% of us would do.

Froch is not a big fight for HBO. End of story.

Sorry, but I really don't like Calzaghe. fornicating hell, I just don't like this guy at all. I can't wait until he's out of boxing, stop fornicating it around like a pussy who won't do anything

Nothing like Collins, Joe Is the undisputed champ there, while Steve was just spouting his mouth off like Carl does.

It's Froch who's more like Collins.

You haven't even give proof he's gave the belt up yet.

Well can people stop talking about any kind of 'legacy' with Calzaghe, then.

Historically he has a legacy at 12 stone and has a high number of title defences.

We didn't give Lennox crap for going for big money fights like fighting a past his best Tyson.

I wouldn't call it cowardly as they are still willing to get in the ring and put their health on the line, but it is pathetic because Froch is in exactly the same position as JC was over a decade ago so why not give Carl a chance.

How do we know yet he Isn't giving him a chance? He probably doesn't even know Froch Is the mandaty yet and Is probably still on holiday after pretending to bone Hopkins.

The fact the WBO allowed him to fight once a year with only one mandatory opponent in 10 years (the petrified Mario Veit, twice) wipes out any claims that the WBO is a legit title. Calzaghe won the world super-middleweight title two years ago and defended it against reality TV stars. He unified the title two fights ago against a guy who Froch will KO in the near-future.

He's yet to fight a proven fighter in their prime in 15 years, so atleast fight a meaningful mandatory FFS. Why not fight Froch in the meantime while waiting for his £200,000,000 super-fight with 40-year-old Jones, which will be in six months time. If he's so confident Froch is leagues below him....

The guy is not a great fighter, nothing about him is

Lennox had cleared out the HW division and defended the undisputed title many times against big-mouths, and had avenged his defeats with KO's. Tyson was the only one left.

Calzaghe cleared out the Super Middles too and Is No 1 and beat some big mouths too.
He's yet to fight a proven fighter in their prime in 15 years,
Can't face the fact he's proven that he ain't a fraud like many use to make out? Kessler was 28 and held the WBC and WBA, Lacy was destroying guys and many picked both of them. Theres two proven fighters.

You picked Hopkins too and Joe won again against that fouling fraud.

Are you bashing for the sake of It?

Neither is Witter but people cried for it. Why are the same people not crying out for Froch?
Because Witter did what Hatton said he had to do and proved to be a worthy opponent.

HBO accept alot of opponents, what Hatton said could of been hearsay.

Froch is still an uproven fighter without a world title, he's not bringing much to the table for Calzaghe to go back down to super-middlweight for.

This is exactly what Calzaghe cried about for years with Collins, lol. Collins said he couldn't get up for unproven Calzaghe because he wanted R.J.J for millions. Calzaghe talked about Craig Cummings etc. Well, what was Peter Manfredo- nothing upto Carl Froch. Its funny how things turn out.

He had been featured on US TV frequently, importantly his fights were not stinkers and people actually enjoyed watching him. At that point, perhaps even now in the US, you could not say that about Witter.

Urango is much-maligned by people who did not bother to do any research into him or check out his prior fights.

Limited punchers score KO's, people, especially the US fan, likes to see KO's. They liked Urango and guess what? He is back on US TV laying motherf*ckers out. He will get a few bites at titles.

He may not have the Lennox Lewis type skills of Enzo Mac but Urango was perfectly acceptable as an opponent for that type of semi-final bout. As I've said all along.
Urango got a gift against Rabah, who got ko'd by Ndou, who lost to Witter. I don't think audiences would have been going crazy over Urango when he was getting given a gift against a none puncher.

Most posters on hardcore forums in the US didnt know who Urango is so lets not pretend he was any kind of name
