Haye is Currently the Best British Fighter...

Seriously, Haye is the Best British Champ at the moment.... Not Calzaghe or Hatton.....
He is not worried about Big Opponents, and does not care to Pad his record against nobodies..
-If he wanted to, he could have stayed at Crusierweight and defend his title for 10 years against Nobodies like Calzaghe.
-However, instead of doing that, he has moved up to HW, and what has he done? he as Gone up to the Champion, Klithscko and openly challenged him..
Could we Imagine Calzaghe in 2002 vacating his belts and going up to challenge RJJ or Hopkins at LH?
Not to take anything away from Joe Cal and Hatton, but Haye deserves the respect from the British Public, not Joe or Rick.

Most ambitious fighter, for sure. Entirely more watchable than Hatton and Calzaghe, too - from an entertainment standpoint and a technical standpoint. The guy hits hard with his knuckles and knocks people out. He doesn't slap in flurries or hold and smother.
Best fighter? If he goes up to heavyweight and sparks Klitschko it will eclipse what Hatton and Calzaghe have done. No doubt. I'd guess that it won't take him 40-odd fights to do so, either.

exactly..
again, dont get me wrong, Joe can is a fantastic fighter, but moving up a weight and beating a 43 year old Hopkins and wanting to fight a 40 year old RJJ means very very little...

Well it means lots of money so good on him. He's remained undefeated and unified a division, so all credit to him. He has nothing left to prove. haye does still have something to prove. But good on him for moving up to HW and giving it a go. Though to be fair the HW division is dire. Id have been more impressed if he stayed at CW and defended for a while and took on Cunningham. Calzaghe has held all belts at one time or other. Shame Haye doesnt face Cunningham and prove he is the best.

Watch out, ffs, we'll have that cretin fist come out of the woodwork now & cheerfully explain that Haye is a fraud 'cos he won't stick around in his hometown for a decade defending his belts against the 14 stone equivalent of Tocker Pudwill, Rick Thornberry, Branco Sobot, Juan Carlos Giminez and Kabary Saalem, only wants big fights, & also isn't trained by his old man.
According to some, any alternative career path to this is known as "not paying your dues".
Meself, I'm on the side of the OP: DH rocks like a bastard. Entertainment value, big punching, dodgy whiskers, big brass balls. My favourite British fighter at the moment, bar none.
Big fight meet up when next he dons the gloves...? I might even crawl out my cave for that one...
EDIT: Typing whilst skinning up slows down your fingers; vide the appearance, above, of the man himself! Oh, happy day!

It took Calzaghe over a decade to step up to the elite level and take a risk. Most of his prime years were spent at WBO title level. Haye's KO win over Mormeck in Paris is better than what Calzaghe did to Lacy in my book. No matter what was said beforehand, Lacy's best wins will always be against a shot Robin Reid and a shot Syd Vanderpool. In 25 years nobody will remember him and how he was the 'second coming of Tyson'.
Kessler was a great win for Joe. Again, though, Kessler may or may not go onto prove himself as a great fighter. As of now the Dane's best win is a KO of a shot Markus Beyer.
I thought Calzaghe lost to Hopkins, so won't go there.
Bottom line, Calzaghe didn't reach the elite level until he was in his mid-30s. Haye is there now at 27 and with 22 fights under his belt. Forget statistics and all those farcical WBO title defences. I'm just talking about the fights that matter.

Sorry mate, you really are completly off the mark and clearly full of anti-Joe bias.
Eubank, Brewer, and Mitchell were all world class fighters. The win over a 35 year old Mormeck is better than Calzaghe beating the undefeated Lacey????? That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. You keep saying everyone Lacy and Kessler beat was shot (BS, Vanderpool and Beyer were not 'shot' in any way) . .well then what was Mormeck, who was in his mid 30s and had just been through the meat grinder with two brutal wars with O'Neil Bell? (who was never anything special)
Beyond Mormeck, what does he have? Enzo Mac? That's pretty much it. Please don't tell the short amatuerish Fragomeni was anything special . . .and he has a LOSS to the 42 year old Thompson to boot!
Haye hasn't proven to be in the clas of Hatton and Calzaghe yet AT ALL.

than Hatton and Calzaghe, too - from an entertainment standpoint and a technical standpoint.
He's more technical than Hatton but not Joe entertainment and talent wise.
You guys are getting way too carried away with Haye.

Entertains only when his right hand effectively sparks the guy otherwise, he looks bad stamina wise getting the win.
Joe Vs Lacy and Kessler was more entertaining than the Mormeck fight.

At least the 35-year-old Mormeck was coming off a win over Bell when he fought Haye and was the undisputed, linear number one.
Brewer had just been stopped by Echols when he fought Calzaghe. Mitchell had just lost to Sven Ottke when Calzaghe decided to fight him. Eubank had lost his title to Collins. Robin Reid had lost to Malinga when Joe got to him. Woodhall was dropped and beaten by Beyer before fighting Joe. See a pattern?
Lacy was a risk at the time. A lot of people believed Lacy would beat Joe. Unfortunately, as times goes by, people will just see a UD over Lacy on JC's record and forget about the hype that followed Lacy around like a bad smell. Lacy won't have the world-class wins on his record to back up the hype. Can you see Lacy becoming world champ again? I can't. Therefore, the major names on his record will possibly remain as Reid, Vanderpool and a close win over Sheika. Great win for JC at the time but it will only weaken as years go by and Lacy fails to live up to the hype.
I'm not saying Joe hasn't proven himself as a truly great fighter. He clearly has. I just feel he could've done a helluva lot more if he'd taken a few risks earlier, that's all.

I'm not saying your not wrong to diss Mormeck. I can see some logic at that.
But was Eubank really still world class after that inactivity and preperation. My definition of world class is capable of beating the champion. I don't think Eubank was. A better prepared Eubank, even in 1997, most definately - he is boderline.
Mitchell - okay, just lost the title but to the #1 champion. I would have given him a decent shout against Beyer, Lucas or whoever was WBC champion - yep I'll give you that one.
Brewer - sorry, no way... lost to a non-world champion in his fight before and failed to register a significant win after. Faded to shit. No-way would Brewer have beaten the other champions. Had Joe fought Echols - then a different story. Most people were generally a bit peeved when this fight was announced.
Beyer was pretty faded fighting Kessler, come on man, he couldn't take a decent shot and was more lucky than anyone to still be a champion against Bika. He was taking a steady pounding.
Vanderpol wasn't shot... just wasn't very good.

I guess entertainment is a personal preference, something which us retards are also entitled to....
Personally, I find it more
entertaining to watch a chinny KO artist with tons of charisma and personality get up from a heavy knockdown and KO the other guy, than I do watching a very good fighter punish a outclassed opponent for 12rds yet not find the finish, or be in a competetive 12rd decision - with very few highlights.
Thats not discrediting either win, both were very good.... but in terms of
entertainment they don't compare.
Max, whilst your heart is probably in the right place, and there's no shame in backing your man.... I swear you would argue black is white if team Calzaghe said it was

Mormeck should of never got Ko'ed by Bell In the 1st place, Bell Is not that good a fighter.
I knew Haye would win as long as the weight didn't mess him up too much but luckily he got up after being hurt bad by a flush left hook and Mormeck doesn't hit very hard.

Zzzzzzzzzz...just like you knew Maccarinelli would chin Haye. Pull the other one. Talk about revisionist. If you were so certain of Haye beating Mormeck why the fook did you harp on about Enzo destroying Haye? Big Mac was always going to be a walk in the park compared to Mormeck.

I picked Mac and was wrong, no big deal, every fan makes wrong picks, but you Haye ball huggers are so smug about It.
Cause Enzo Is better than Mormeck and Haye was badly weight drained against Mormeck Is what I based my pick partly on. I didn't root for either as I like both.
