So who do we think they are, my guesses would be along the likes of
Buckland, Burns or Castle.

Anyone heard anything, thought it was a gimmee to be an overseas fighter and it may well be but when they leak out the fact that some Brits are on the shortlist it's almost as if they are getting us ready for the announcement

Burns for me would be an interesting event, if he was on top form he would not find Khan hard to nail, I realise the power angle is not great but he disturbed Earl at times in that sphere.

Burns only punches wide and long, whereas Khan only punches straight and fast. Stylistically it would maybe be a mismatch.

Castle, as in Henry Castle?

As long as he has a decent punch and is durable and ambitious I do not mind.

He needs to fight someone who is going to take what he throws and then comes back at him with shots.

Apart from Limmond he hasn't fought anyone who does that, they either fall over when he hits them, or they take what he has but dont bother trying to throw anything.

Micheal Gomez

Yeah would you believe it, Gomez on the shortlist....I'd like to see that one.

Did think of Gomez I just cannot see Frank taking a chance with Michael even though it should not go wrong he has too much too lose.

Think it will be a low key opponent for his last ITV fight and then off to Setanta for his world title crack

It would be very entertaining, especially if it was on ITV, Gomez may well scare the shite out of Khan... and Frank for that matter

Although you'd have to favour an Amir stoppage by the halfway mark, it would definitely be entertaining

Why not put him in with someone like David Barnes, a stronger, fit, capable opponent.

If Khan is legit, he'd have no problems with Barnes.

Gomez would sell tickets without a doubt and there is a local rivalry angle I guess...

But Khan has probably moved past the level Gomez is now at, even as a 'gimme'

Won't happen in this fight though David, Barnes is still too dangerous.This is his last with ITV (I think) so an explosive win will seal a nice deal with Setanta and perhaps add a nought to the cheque that Frankie can get him.

I believe Romanov has vacated the European, I wonder if they may consider that route, although that may be his first fight on Setanta perhaps.

I'd be quite interested in that fight, in fact I said months ago I think it could be interesting. What with Enzo Calzaghe in the corner - no doubt he would have a decent game plan. The main problem is that he would say exactly what he thinks about Khan before and after the fight, which isn't a good thing for W arren.
Gavin could show Khan a few tricks and some nice body punching, and ultimately earn himself a nice payday. I have to say that I think his title reign was shot down by everyone in boxing including most on this forum, almost like he did something wrong in winning a title. I wouldn't be suprised to see Gavin get a points decision and W arren gets to keep some sort of investment, whilst Khan looks elsewhere.

Rees won't beat Khan, no way. Similar to the St Clair fight apart from Rees will show more ambition and Khan will find him easier to hit. Late stoppage.

Just heard the press conference is Tuesday and both Khan and the opponent will be there for interviews and questions etc.

So there must be a real chance its another British fighter, not the easiest period to guarantee travel plans and assure attendance.

Rees is an interesting shout from some of you, think I am leaning towards Ricky Burns myself.

I hope it's Gomez, at least he'll make the build-up interesting AND probably the first 4 rounds

Pryce is on the undercard and BBC have just gone with a story saying Rees is on the shortlist, so looks like a great shout from a couple of you.

Suppose we can't really moan he was a former world champ (yes he did beat M'Baye, I could not believe it either).

Must confess I would like to see him land on Amir's chin and see what happens but think this is over inside 4 rounds, Khan is too quick and will land too often, Rees will be stopped on his feet as seems the norm with some of Khan's victims

I was convinced by MBaye's bizarre non-perfomance against Rees that Gav was being set up for Khan's world title win. A win would not be anything like as sweet now. Perhaps Rees is being given one last payday before Frankie bins him.

David Barnes is down to face Barry Morrison. The May 9 Everton Park bill was scrapped and it is looking to be rescheduled for June or July.

Surely its going to be either a lightweight or a super feather? As such, can't see Rees being the man.

BBC Wales are saying it's likely to be Rees. I give him a good shot at giving Khan a big reality check. He's got a good chin on him, and punches harder than any of Khan's previous victims.

If its Rees I dont think thats too bad really. I mean you could do worse. And the guy was fairly competitive with Kotelnik.
