I know it's not Australain, but there's enough kiwis here (just ask N2 shape and Redcornerpromotions). Just noticed Shane Chapman got beaten in a boxing match recently, but more interestingly was that Sean Sullivan was on the undercard, also getting beaten. But what really surprised me was that he was fighting at Cruiser. He hasn't one a fight since Danny beat him (I still say that fight was the beginning of the end for Danny) and has gone from 168 in 2004 to 195.5 now. Going at this rate he will soon be at heavy. Imagine that, Sean Sullivan at Heavy. He has been great for Australasian boxing, but when should he give it up?

Theres no doubt about it Sean Sullivan is a New Zealand/Australasian Boxing Legend full stop. Like most guys he's carried on far too long however as much as i like Sean i have to say it.

I think he should have retired after he lost to Mundine in there 2nd fight. Maybe have had a final "retirement" fight in NZ after that, but thats where it should have ended in my opinion. Perhaps even after the Green fight, there was no reason to fight Mundine again other than the $$ the 2nd time.

Maybe he is like Roberto Duran. Duran boxed on long after his use by date because he knew nothing else.

Bit of a worry that after eight straight losses Boxrec still rates Sullivan as the No. 2 Cruiserweight in NZ.

I read somewhere he is supposed to be fighting that beast that killed his own child.

Sullivan is fighting three rounders, for Christ's sake! In his last fight he was beaten by Wayne Orbell, who Pownceby stopped in one in their pro debut. It was Orbell's third fight.

Sullivan is finished.

Thanks for the assessment. I may be ignorant, but it is my opinion, and I'm suprised it didn't invoke comment from other casual bystanders earlier.

Let me preceed this by stating I'm a huge Danny Green fan. However, regardless as to why it happened (virus, de-hydration etc), after Danny's delusional rant at the end of the Sullivan fight (in which he though he had lost the fight) he never appeared to be the same fighter again. I'll very quickly sum up my opinion of his fights after Sullivan.

Gonzalez - an average south american who has achieved nothing, who actually knocked Danny down.
Beyer - who it could be argued, except for the last round, had Danny covered (just) after being nearly obilerated by Danny, prior to the DQ, in their first fight.
Crawford and Garcia - at best average fighters. In fact, garcia had been knocked out 9 times prior to that fight and Danny, previously the most devastating puncher in the division, couldn't finish him.
Mundine - regardless of the reasons, and much to my chagrin, Mundine owned Danny that night.
Then moving to LH, Delisle and Murdoch are good local talent, but miles behind Danny. Not even good sparring really.
Griffin - an over-hyped semi-sports celeb. He beat a fighter with a losing record in his last fight prior to Danny, hardly a world beater.
Finally Drews for the belt. No question a good win, again a good fighter..... But Drews was definately the easiest target for Danny to secure a belt.

So in the fights that mattered after Sullivan, Danny was 1-2-0. A world champion, yes........a good bloke, yes.......great for Australian Boxing, definately.........awe inspiring, no.

So now that I have thought about it more, you can shove your ignorant comment up you arse, and use your God-given brain a bit more before you through insults next time.

One thing I will say is Sullivan made you work your ass off for your win against him.

In regards to wether Green was finished after Sullivan. I wouldnt say Finished but they say every fight takes its toll I think that Sullivan fight certainly took its toll on Danny

I agree. Also, I never said he was finished, far from it. He was just never his devastating self again.

Green certainly left it all in the ring that night, probably fair to say Sean was never the same after that bout also, even though he was still well gone when he took that fight

I too think the Sullivan fight was the start of the end of Danny's career. However, I think it was more of the weight cutting and dehydration from his long pre-fight warm up, long fight and Perth heat that led to his decline.

Weight cutting seemed to hurt him more than a Sullivan punch

1 more round and sullivan kills green. green dead before hospital. sullivan didnt finish green alone. fenechs dumb tactics helped. there would have been many little things that nearly killed danny that night. sullivans toughness was the biggest.
