What happens if Khan loses?

I have a feeling it will happen sooner, rather than later. And so what happens then? For him, it would be a difficult road back.

But for British boxing in general? Give that Hatton and Calzaghe's careers are coming to an end, he may be the only household name left active. I'm NOT suggesting that he himself is carrying boxing- but he is one of the few current fighters with a real "crossover" appeal.

IE- do you think british boxing needs Khan? How much would a loss by Khan hurt the sport's general appeal?

To answer the question in the thread title:

I will laugh my b*llocks off!!!

In my opinion Team Khan should learn how to treat people properly - then perhaps they would gain the respect they think they already have and in my opinion take for granted!!!

bloody hell, boxing is full of this - and will continue to be while ppl are money hungry so and sos - why is the Khan-Harrison fiasco any more important?

I think, in all honesty, a lot of people (at least on dedicated fan forums etc) will agree with spud.

Khan is losing respect fast, low blows and taklking the same shite don;t help, either.

That said, I DON'T think he is generating the kind of passionate hatred many people felt for Eubank and Naseem in their prime. That was kind of a respect-hatred thing.

i just don't see why it's being treated as exceptional circumstances when other cases haven't - is all I'll say.

I loved Chris Eubank - thought he was bloody entertaining - I ooked forward to it every time he appeared in front of the camera or in the ring!!

One of the best times was when I was stood outside Mike Tyson's dressing - who walks past but Chris Eubank - he stops - puts in his monocle or whatever its called does one of his stances with his walking stick - I don't think I was meant to laugh because he was winding up Team Tyson - but I was in tears of laughter.

why are forum fans more interested in what goes on behind the scenes than they are the boxing ??

i think its sad, am i alone in only being interested in the sport than the bulllshit

only 0.00001% of forum visiters are involved in the sport (carrying bags doesnt count) - so who gives a fornicate

I don't know, cos boxing is as much politics and power play as what happens in the ring. Boxing ppl do post on here - promoters, writers, trainers, fighters - more than you'd think! And more ppl in the trade keep a watch on what is being posted about them, be sure of that, even if they are not posting under their own name or a screen name.

That shows you how much you know about boxing then - sorry but it does!!!

There is so much which goes into boxing - boxing politics, the hype and what goes on behind the scenes has gone on in boxing for years and years and the more and more money which has come into it has made it even more intriguing.

And as for your carrying bags quip - f*ck me I wish you were there giving me a hand when I went to Monte Carl twice and Vegas 3 times - it was a right bitch!!!

but the people who are involved in the sport do not make the sad snipes, they are always positiive

it seems to be the bag carriers, failed journo's and alike who are obsessed with the behind the scenes action more than when the boxers step through the ropes

just enjoy the SPORT and let the people who it affect worry about the rest

ah-men

I can only speak for myslef, but my post was about- what happens if Khan loses in the boxing ring? It was nothing to do with his trainer.

If Khan were to lose- and his "star was to fade" there could be wider implications for the boxing fan. IE- There is a lot of public, press, and media interest in Khan- which means more interest in boxing. This in turn helps promote the sport in general, which means more shows, more TV coverage etc.

My point- Amir Khan's popularity has helped generate some much needed interest in boxing- which is a good thing. If he were to fail, then in turn that interest would decline.

Yawn yawn and yawn - your posts really do glaringly show up how much you know about boxing - whether you like it or not boxing is about the hype, it is about the boxing politics about what goes into making a fight or not etc etc and then right at the end of it all - we get the fight.

And as for your sad snipes line - Ummmmm - are you not writing them yourself??

UMmmmm you claim to love the sport so much - I bet you would turn down free trips and expenses paid to some of the best locations in the world and when you got back to the UK you would also turn down the opportunity to work on some of the best shows and you would also turn down the opportunity to meet the very people you enjoy boxing so much.

Yeah of course you would - whoops sorry - I must be wrong - just for a tadge then I mistook you for being a jealous c*nt - and as for carrying bags - UMmmmmmm - You forgot making the tea!!!

Now f*ck off to bed jealous c*nt - next please!!!

Your last paragraph is worthy of a thread on its own!!!

Bloody good point by the way.

I think boxing's popularity is on the up with or without Amir Khan - to be blunt its up to the promoters to keep it there!!!

In addition if Amir Khan keeps on rushing and wanting to ignore the likes of Mr W arren he soon to be out of the sport anyhow. You ignore someone of W arren's magnitude at your peril - and if you do you need someone with sound knowledge of the sport behind you - I honestly believe Khan is making a f*ck up.

Too many ppl are wanting Khan to lose for my liking over a trainer-fighter split that has shit all to do with anyone but the principals involved.

also, loads of ppl are giving Khan and Warren the ammunition that "They're just jealous of my success", "The Brits have a losing mentality" etc.

IF Khan ends up going out and learning a few things in the States, and there is interest to do this even if things are moving slowly - then Khan won't end up in any Calzaghe-Hopkins type fiascos. He'll get his big fights well before he's 36, he'll know how to deal with whatever style he should be facing etc, provided his career is steered with proper purpose.

I hope Khan re-signs with Warren because with time, the need for speed in the Khan family tempered by Warren's caution COULD find a good balance.

despite my dislike for Team Khan - I have to agree with your lines above!! :TU:

But will he live the life of a boxer or a celebrity?

I think too a lot of it is to do with that low blow- a rather uncalled for bit of cheating, and his attidude towards it didn't help.

I for one could give a charlie about his trainer split- but I didn't like to see him punching low and then effectivly dismissing it as nothing.

Yes, I think you are alone.

How can you seperate the sport from the politics when, rightly or wrongly, politics dictate who gets opportunities, who trains a fighter etc...

i want him to lose early in his career, which i believe will prepare him to be a better boxer and a dominant one in the future!

Khan isn't going to lose until he's a world champion. Similar to Hatton.

If he continues to be matched the way he is, taking 2 steps down after St Clair, then you are most likely right.

He will be matched like that. Look at Ricky Hatton's rise to the top. That's precisely how Khan's is going to be, IF he stays with Warren.
