Since Mike Tyson’s felony arrest for drug possession in December 2006, he spent the remainder of 2007 in rehab and has reportedly been clean and sober ever since. He is currently under court mandated sobriety with monthly drug and alcohol testing. Regarding his newfound life of sobriety, a hefty looking Tyson told ESPN’s ‘E:60': “It’s a struggle. I want to take drugs everyday. I want to drink everyday. But I don’t because I made the commitment not to. I take things day by day now and I am adjusting to it. I don’t hang out with the people that I normally acquainted myself with in the past because I’m not that type of person anymore.” Tyson, who turns 42 years old next month, also went on to say: “I don’t want to get involved with my old lifestyle. I just want a different life now. I saw what that life got me, so I’m trying to build a new life that’s functional now. I wake up. Make my bed. Watch television. Then, I call my accountant to hear him say “no,” he’s not going to give me any money. Controlling my spending habits is a part of the change I guess.”

In reflecting upon his days as ruler of the heavyweight division and the pandemonium that surrounded him, Tyson stated: “Maybe I was addicted to chaos. And that was the only way I knew how to function at that time. When I look back at the things I’ve done in my life, I realize that I brought them upon myself and now I have to deal with the responsibility - and I don’t like that. That’s what I have a problem dealing with.” Regarding his 1st round KO win over Michael Spinks in 1988, Tyson stated: “I really couldn’t enjoy that victory because I had so much chaos going on in my life at that time. I had my wife fighting with my managers and I had three girlfriends in the audience. It was just a mess. I wish things didn’t turn out like they did, with my career and everything. But I gave it a hell of a fight. I didn’t lay down and I didn’t give up. I kept in there and gave it a good fight... and I’m still fighting.” Rumors of Tyson getting back into the ring again have been emphatically denied by his manager Harlan Werner.

Tysons comments highly amused me

He looks to be getting his life and head in order, long may it continue.

Well getting a bit fat isn't the worst thing he can do.
To be honest i can't see him not getting into trouble again, its inbuilt with some.

Saddest picture i saw this week was Gazza looking ill and haggered walking along the street.

Yeah sad to see Gazza going through this. Not completely unexpected and it's hard to see him turning it all around but I hope he does. A truly great football player!

He's another Legend, he was my hero as a kid. At his peak (which wasn't long enough) he was one of the best players this countries has seen.

Ifhe'd signed for Alex Ferguson he'd have been nurtured in the way Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Beckham and laterly Ronaldo and ROoney have been.

Sensationally gifted player.

But ultimatley just a thick lad from Tyneside. Just as Collymore, the most gifted player I've ever seen at the City Ground, was a thick lad from Cannock.

Indeed... a legend in his time. Unfortunately, I don't see things improving too much for Gazza... I hope i'm wrong, and he manages to get help and turn it around, but for some reason I just don't see it happening.

I struggle to have much sympathy for wife beaters and rapists like Tyson and Gazza, let alone think of them as legends. Nice to see Tyson sorting himself out though

I'll never forget a young Gazza on the Wogan show (not long after the infamous Georgie Best one) and Wogan asking if he stable enough not to be another Best.

There have been some articles on him - making some quite startling observations about his personality and also his health... the article suggest that even in his playing career he had some classic charactersitics for Parkinson's.

Sporting Legends may have been a more accurate term, they're both troubled people who have lead extraordinary lives. Obviously some of their past actions have been inexcusable, but I can't help having a soft spot for either of them

just looked Cannock up on the internet, and the towns famous people list is superb. Possibly the worst claim to famous people ever.

Famous people from Cannock include footballer Stan Collymore, Richard Gosling (Strongest Man in Britain), Mel Galley (former Whitesnake guitarist/vocalist), Glenn Hughes (former Deep Purple bassist/vocalist), Robert Lloyd (vocalist in The Prefects and The Nightingales).

The American pop singer Tiffany now lives in the town, having married a local businessman.
The Brother of the actor Roger Moore used to live in the Shoal Hill area of Cannock Chase.

Steve Bull, the veteran Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, lived in Cannock during his marriage.

The local businessman who Tiffany married is one of my muckas, I met her a couple of years ago. I can't wait for them to split up, so I can sing "I think you're alone now" to him.

Stan's still round the area and goes to the same gym as me, still an arrogant prick from what I see of him.

Never heard of the rest, but Shoal Hill is the rich area of Cannock...... yes it does have one

Richard Gosling (Britains Strongest Man) went through a faze in 2001 of trying to intimidate me because my mate chucked a kebab on his car..... thats how bright he is!!! I had him and 3 other 18+ stone blokes standing round me (12 stone) giving it the BIG un in the local night club (Silks) ....needless to say I roundhoused all 4 with 1 spinning kick 8) (well sort of)

He was a really horrible arrogant kant til some bloke from Walsall stabbed him in the neck when he was giving it the BIG un as a bouncer at Silks, he seemed to lose a bit of the chip off his shoulder after that. The bloke who done it is serving life

Gazza would have ended up being given the boot by Ferguson, he wouldn't have been disciplined enough and would have been told to f off.

Ferguson is the topman when it comes to getting players to behave.
He knows what most if not all his players are up to off the pitch.

And he gets them to toe the line, or they are out.
He would have had alot of influence over Gazza if he could have got him.
