You know - The booing of your national anthem can be cringeworthy at times and I would not partake in it (or the booing of any national anthem) however this takes the facking biscuit.

It’s disrespectful to any country, and their athletes. But given our long history of being allies and the fact that the U.S. saved the British bacon even when the UK was a first rate world power, it would seem that we might have earned some additional respect.

Small history lesson, by late 1943 when the first US troops came to our shores - we had already staved off Nazi invasion attempts with the battle of Britian.

The Soviet Union who started to push back the Nazi war machine from 1942 onwards were a much bigger factor in crushing Hitler and saving Europe from Tyranny.

Now really - You didn't save our bacon, we saved ourselves. What weaponary and loans you did send over we paid back every penny plus interest up till THIS YEAR.

As for the 'allies' remark, well this is a one way relationship where we do the giving and your country does the taking. I don't want our troops dying in Iraq fighting Bush's war for one minute longer. Historically the US have never helped us and it was American money that helped fund the IRA
amongst other instances where you have stabbed us in the back.

Finally - Timothy Bradley got the last laugh as he shut the boo'ers up where it mattered - in the ring.

I hate to agree with DG but he's right, some fans are too obsessed with having unbeaten fighters.

I'd rather they got involved in the huge ests and challenges and lost a few, it's the only way to get in the HOF and didn't do the Ali's, Leonard's and Duran's of this world any harm.

protecting an "0" in the loss box is one of the major things ruining boxing.

I think people that got over excited about alpahbet titles will be dissapointed but realisticly we have fighters in the top 10 in the world in a few weight devisions and boxing on Prime Time ITV for me things are going pretty good, oh yeh and we are about to take the olympics!

The booing of the national anthem is an absolute disgrace, moreso if it's the American (Although booing the German one is acceptable IMO). However, the rest of his post is absolutely 100% spot on. The fact is without us, I don't recall the US ever winning any significant conflict.
And the Falklands? wasn't it nearer for them than us but did they help? did they fornicate! did we need them, did we fornicate?

I don't know if you remember the Lennox Lewis vs Lionel Butler fight out in Sacramento I think it was boxingchat, the yanks there booed the arse out of 'God Save the Queen' but Lewis shut the booing septics up by battering Butler. The Americans are not beyond booing an anthem.

The Americans have never helped us, in Palestine, the Suez and they even invaded a British colony (Greneda in 1983) without our consent. Most of the provisional IRAs money came from the United States until they decided terrorism is horrid. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them - they don't do it back and they never have.

For me, we live in a free democracy where we are allowed to say and do what we want - unlike America! If someone wants to boo the anthem of any nation then they can for me - I wouldn't personally boo the 'star spangled banner' for me it is a nice little ditty but I felt the historical innaccuracies had no place in Michael Swanns piece
