Haye gives up WBC title!

David Haye, the WBC/WBA/WBO cruiserweight champion, has communicated to the WBC his plans for his future in boxing in a letter written to the WBC President Jose Sulaiman. Haye has relinquished his WBC cruiserweight championship and is requesting the WBC to rate him in the heavyweight division, hoping that his second dream, to win the WBC green and gold heavyweight championship, becomes true in the near future. The WBC's vacant cruiserweight title will be contested between Rudolf Kraj and Giacobbe Fragomeni.

If memory serves, Holyfield got a decent ranking in the HW by the WBA (top 10, I think). Hopefully the WBC will do the same.

Exactly, Haye and his team have a set path, I think they know exactly what they are doing!

Peter has a voluntary in July -- maybe Haye is trying to get in the mix sharpish. If he can potshot Peter for 12 rds, he gets to beat up Vitali Klitschko in December!

Peter has his schedule full in 2008. First a volunary, which is looking like Golota and then Vitali which is apparently already agreed towards the end of the year.

Rahman is there for the taking after the piss poor showing against Lawrence.

Hopefully Haye still has some titles by the time he steps in the ring because it looks good and helps with the marketing a bit if he's introduced as the "undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world."

Anyone else think that the two fighters who will be fighting for the vacant title are really poor! I think Frag is a durable fighter and probably EBU level but I think Macaranelli could deffinatly have him!

But as discussed in the other thread, nobody is giving Vitali much hope of not dropping out.

Haye beats Rahman around September time and keeps himself in shape then he is in the perfect position to step in once Vitali breaks down in training again.
