Can anyone tell me about this fight between two contenders of the lost generation... was it exciting? Im trying to find out information on any exciting fights that the 80's fighters showed.. they get such a bad reputation Im sure they had to put on some good performances against each other....

No it was not exciting it was on the undercard of Tyson v Spinks which was exciting for 91 seconds.

It wasn't exciting, but if you're a fan of either guy you'll find it interesting.

Berbick barely tried to win, mostly posing and stuff. Its as if he didn't want to win, knowing that would qualify him for a rematch with Tyson.

Williams just used the jab, obviously his right hands weren't gonna budge a muscled lump like Berbick.

But there were many entertaining fights in the 80s, dont believe what they tell you!

Thats pretty much how I remember it. Berbick did almost nothing the entire fight. It was pretty pathetic. Williams pretty much just used his jab all night. There was no need to do anything else.

The 80s had loads of great fights, just not really at Heavyweight.

Some exceptions: Williams-Weaver, Holmes-Cooney/Witherspoon/Smith, Tyson-Thomas/Tubbs/Berbick/Bruno, Weaver-Dokes II, Thomas-Witherspoon and of course Dokes-Holyfield. I've heard Tillis-Frazier was good but have never seen it . . anyone care to share about that bout?

The infamous hug and pose-a-thons you seem to be interested in between Pages, Tubbs, Witherspoon etc. were about as bad as you've heard. Granted, I'll watch them anyday over the likes of Sultan-Klitschko, Briggs-Lyakovich, Valuev-anybody, Ruiz-anybody etc.
