i am planning on moving to england in the next 18 months to 2 years i have not decided where abouts to move yet as the reason i am moving is the boxing standard in england is much better i am 18 and have had a pro fight(in which i fought very bad and stupidly) so before i move i want around 15 more fights before i make the move. one of the trainers at my gym thinks it would be the best move i could make for my career and will have no problems getting a british passport as my mum is a british citizen. where would you recommend moving to

Great place (I live here so I'm not setting you up) and there are several gyms from which to choose.

Although there are far more Aussies in London if you missed your home accent.

Would say Manchester is the fight capital. There was a paradigm shift from Sheffield to Manchester sometime in the late '90s.

Warren, who promoted most of those fights, does a lot with the Welsh fighters these days. However, Hatton will probably promote a lot of big shows with his company, in Manchester.

I agree about Manchester. Just stay away from Moss Side.

just asked my grandmother about moss side and she said i would be mad to go there she said when she was young it wasnt a place you would go

Gun crime and drugs have made it much worse. Ask Terry D about Moss Side and he'll tell you some stories. I drove through it once and nearly shit myself.

I lived in Moss Side for 3 years (Dooley is going to come on here and tell me I really lived in the posher Rusholme ) But I wouldn't say Moss Side is the worst area in Manchester to live, there are some really depressing, horrid holes that you could be stuck in - I'd say Beswick,
Hulme and places up in North Manchester like Miles Platting - urgh!

Where is your mums family from? There are pro gyms in all the big cities
Manchester is a good choice, Sheffield yup, you could go with Aston in Huddersfield, Nobby in Birmingham will get you fights - it depends what you are after in regards your career.

Manchester is a good place for boxing of course - there are a lot of shows
in Manchester, Oldham and now Wigan. But advising a lad who comes from a nice, sunny place like Perth to live in inner city Manchester is a recipe for disaster I think.

Its happened of course - Chris P Bacon was an Aussie who became an adopted Manc but I think a gym probably outside of Manchester would be good - Penarski in Bolton, Huddersfield isn't too far from Manchester so he could go with Chris Aston, Jack Doughty in Oldham and these guys have foreign fighters on their books anyway - I think the best choice for him is to go with a manager who already manages foreign boxers.

Scotland would be a good shout. Why not Perth?

Plenty of them in Cannock, the other week a reesty looking smackhead come upto me and said "excuse me mate, can I lend 9p off ya, my nans sick in hospital and I haven't got the bus fare to get there", I said "If you're nan's ill the last thing she's going to want to see is a horrible little urchin like you, now fcuk off!" - it had the desired effect
