Guzman feels he has been messed about over the visa issue. Leaving his WBO title for Arthur who allegedly cannot even make 130 anymore. Arthur will have to defend vs a Warren fighter 1st defence if he (somehow) manages to make 130 again.

Anyway, Guzman is moving up to lightweight and a sympathetic WBO are making him their #1 contender ahead of Anthony Peterson and - get this - ahead of Khan. Guzman's a multiple WBO champ so this is no surprise really.

So anyway, I ask you all - WAS IT WORTH IT? Playing the WBO ratings game. Because how is the future biggest star of British boxing going to get a world title at a packed lightweight division when ppl like Guzman are above him in the rankings for Campbell's WBO belt, when ppl like Pac and JMM are moving up, when someone like Casa has a Ring title - requisite for title shot, you need to be promoted by Golden Boy.

Has this Arthur/WBO episode been detrimental to Khan's chances of becoming a world champion?

At least we will get great Arthur-Foster Jr mini classic esque fights with regularity down at 130 making Setanta worth having.

If anyone wants to clear up that Arthur is fine making 130, the information would be most welcome.

I shudder to think what Guzman would do to Khan if that one ever came off.

this is a complete guess but i would imagine that Khan can generate more money than all the other contenders including Guzman

whether he would beat them is an entirley different matter

khans natural weight advantage over guzman may even things out abit more also - he isnt the destructive puncher he was at bantam anymore

I have no concrete information, but I don't think it's a secret that Arthur struggles to make weight. Didn't he use the weight-making difficulties as an excuse to explain away the knockdown against Foster Jr.? If he is awarded the full title, I can't see him staying there long, but his chances of having an impact at 135 would appear slim. Similarly with Khan - to date, there is no evidence to suggest he would be competitive with the top 6 at the weight.

By the way, even though he's supposedly moving to lightweight, isn't JMM the WBO number 1 at 130? That could be the "superfight" for Arthur if he still wants one after the cancellation of the Guzman bout.

Out of interest how many british fighters have picked up a vacant WBO title in recent times? Arthur, Calzaghe, Enzo Maccaranelli, Steve Robinson - anyone else Ive missed? But thats a sad statistic - its one thing to beat a dominant reigning world champ - another thing to win a vacant "world" title. And I use the term "world" loosely.

Cool. Casamayor ahead of Khan in the rankings. Peterson ahead of Khan. And Guzman apparently jumping the queue ahead of Peterson!

Khan will probably have to see who's left at the end and assess if it's worth the risk at this point.

I do think Warren was hoping for a vacated WBO belt though

Thats like Witter when he was WBC offering 50-50 to Hatton, Casa would be the draw. Campbell cant make money without a big name and he knows it.

Guzman's ring weight against Soto was 144 or 147 I think.

I think he had some pop at 130 and a nicely timed punched will still get the job again

I too give Khan a chance though, hes so much bigger frame wise than Guzman, and we havent seen Guzman against someone with a long reach who can box from the outside at speed and someone who can outwork him. And remember Guzman is ageing.

I make Guzman the favourate but it isnt the easiest style for him

Lets have it right, all the top guys will fight Khan , he has'nt excatly proved himself to be a monster up till now a good British level fighter and thats it. They will all fight him and he could get any one he wants in the ring simply because he can generate the money.

Question is does Khan want them in the ring, answer NO Fwank will steer him towards some title or another that he can have given to him and if they can't find one they will probably invent one, facts are even if they can malipulate into winning a decent title he would have to defend it

I am 100% sure I read Guuzman weighed 150lbs on the night for as fight.
