I wonder if he is really struggling to make weight he might have to go up to lightweight? Would he be the only world champion to have never won or defended a belt?

Does Arthur truly believe he's a WORLD CHAMPION? Jesus, those quotes are beyond belief. Arthur's barely top 10 in the world. He's beaten a few European level fighters and that's it. He nearly lost to Stephen Foster last time out.

It's a shame. Arthur comes across as a decent, level-headed guy pre and post fight. Surely he can't believe that, now with WBO title in hand, he's a world champion.

Sure, by definition. But it's like saying Carlton Palmer was an England international. The WBO is just the same as the WBU, WBF, IBO and all those other Sky Sports belt we had to put up with in recent times. FWarren has way to much of a say in that organisation for my liking and it's too 'in house' for any of their world champions to be taken seriously. No organisation is perfect, but the WBO is not on the same level as the WBC/WBA/IBF titles.

Nah mate it might be the lesser of the main belts, but its a league above WBU, WBF and IBO lol. WBO has had some very good modern day boxers - Naseem, DLH, Barerra, Benn, Calzaghe, Eubank, Klitschkos...

I reckon he's going to have it for a very long time. I'm certain that Franky Boy knew Guzman was going to vacate and move up - he said as much after Arthur nearly got neat off Foster a few months ago. I can just see Arthur making some poor defenses against average guys like McFields, Benavides and Mukhlis. I mean if I were the WBO I would make Arthur fight either Mitchell, Martinez or Jaurez for the vacant title. I hate fighters being given their world-titles.

Exactly, like Enzo with Nelson's WBO bauble. And they had the cheek to claim parity with Haye because Enzo was also a 'world champ'!!

Arthur reckons he already felt he had won the title when he beat that famous world beating hall of famer Coco Googolodzoid or whatever he was called so fair enough. That's the only recent thing he has done to link in with being handed the belt and proclaimed world crown holder.

The WBO is the sole "second tier" belt - in between the big three and the morass of absolute sh1te.

To be fair to Arthur, he's not the first fighter to get a world title this way, he won't be the last, and good luck to him whilst it lasts. Which won't be long, because he is ridiculously tight at the weight, so I suspect we'll see him jobbed to Mitchell and then fed to Khan in his lightweight debut!
