I've just been reading an article on about Reid in an old edition of BM. Reid was expected to achieve big things in boxing, having done well in the olympics.

However, despite winning the WBA LMW title, he didn't stay as long as sonme thought & probably should have gone on to achieve more than he did.

How good could Reid have been?

To be honest, i thought he was a rather ordinary fighter that did as much as he could.

he gave Tito a decent fight.

Wasn't part of his problem related to his eye drooping?

His eye drooped after catching that infamous Tito punch. He was never the same fighter after that knockdown. Same thing happened to Vargas. He left it all in the ring with Tito.

His management team knew that he was not going to last long in boxing. So they tried their best for him to collect as much money as they could making him fight guys like Tito, who was a super star at the time, and tried to sell his industry because of the only olympian of 1996 to win a gold medal.

He was pretty decent, but they pushed too him too fast. Plus that eye that he had, almost closed, his management team figured, "Let's make him fight and push this guy a$$$$$$$ fa$$$$t as we can"

He liked to drink. After his KO loss to Sam Hill, which I think his lifelong trainer declined to be in the corner for,Teddy Atlas said he was out all night the previous night which is why his trainer wasn't there,he was disgusted by his behavior.Fighting Trinidad after 14 fights wasn't too bright either.
