i know we have had some fragmented threads before, but i thought i would like to say this.

saw claude at the witter/bradley bill and he does not look well at all, tvery gaunt and seemingly frailer every time i see him. there may well be an explanation (stress related illness or enforced dieting or long distance running/marathon training etc) but im genuinly worried about claude, i hope he is ok and i wish him good health. is there anyone closer to him that can perhaps shine a bit more light on the subject please?

I hope there is an innocent explanation - but he does look thin.

However, if there is an illness and he wishes for it to remain private - then we must respect this.

Claude might have looked particularly gaunt in Nottingham because he sat next to me with my burly physique!

One of the best journos in the business I reckon he produces a consistent must read column everyweek.

One the matter of his health, he just looks in shape to me.

I agree, he looks like someone who has discovered the benefits os long distance running.

Couldn't disagree more, this week being a perfect example. Claude could have taken Hatton to task for the hypocrisy in his claim that he's doing the Lazcano fight "for the fans" but going along with Sky in making it a pay-per-view, instead he devotes it to Spain's former European bantamweight champion who boxed from 1943 to 1958

The best editors in the business are those who make a stand or shed light on issues that give the readers insight they wouldn't otherwise have got.
By contrast, Claude clearly deliberately avoids controversy and plays it 'safe'. As a result, despite being a reader of BN for a number of years, I still have no idea who Claude is in terms of his genuine thoughts, opinions etc, which surely is the point of a column? Contrast that with Glyn Leach, who wears his heart on his sleeve, tells it as it is and as a result, for my money, connects far better with readers.

He doesn't look well. Hope he's okay.

Claude is just a guy who is genetically very small, I assume.

Must admit his column is always far better when he attempts to opinionate or bring a matter to task, sometimes something i might have missed during the week.

When he writes about old unknown fighters like he did this week i think fair enough, he must be genuinely interested and wants to publicise a forgotten fighter. But then i wonder is he just sitting there thinking "Frig me i don't know what to write about this week..."

I know (its his 80th really)

I was sat behind him in Bethnal Green for Napa v Haskins and he looked very, very thin, but then he was wearing a weird sleeveless jacket.

His arms were about 5ft long, he was like a gaunt Mr Tickle.

Sure he's ok though, he just looked like he had lost weight, he didn't look ill.
