by constantly choosing smaller men (super-featherweights) for khan to fight....i give you one name who allegedly will not let khan near
joan guzman
come on frank , hes just a blown up super-feather lol
frank you say that amir is world class , prove it , fight guzman , personally i still think that amir is untested at european level.
if amir ever fight guzman it will be one of the biggest one side beatings ever
guzman in 6

I think that WBO rating came too soon.
Now who can Khan fight to make him ready? No fights will be made that are risky because if he lost, he loses his title fight, and it makes everyone look daft.
When you think Khan is a light welter in the ring, it should be time for a genuine lightweight. I think there won't be any room for Khan at lightweight. He now has Guzman and Peterson ahead of him in the WBO ratings which makes things tricky. He's bypassed Europe and left gaps in Britain it seems, so he has these limbo fights like Michael Gomez.
I have a nagging feeling that Amir will briefly hold a WBO title before moving up to 140 where the waters are way easier to navigate. Before that his trainer/promoter situation will need to be sorted.

i think though after the gomez fight amir will be pitched against the small light-welter former champion rees.
this will result in khans biggest fight as rees is talented but with size of khan it would be a jab and move decision.
again though this keeps khan out of the contention , i also wonder if allegedly is keeping khan down at lightweight until hattons career is over as i think frank knows that if khan moves up in weight the britsih press will demand that hatton/khan meet , this is another fight i think warren knows khan cant win.

allegedly Protecting his fighter's? Never
Well seeing as how Naive British Fans think Calzaghe and Hatton are Legeneds. Pretty sooner or later Im Sure Amir Khan will be in the same Light with the same British Fans.

Khan is nowhere near ready to step up to world class yet, he needs to take his time and fight all the top lightweights in Britain, then when he has beaten them (which I believe he will) he needs to take on the top fighters on the continent before even thinking of a world title. Unfortunately the chances of that happening under allegedly are slim to none.

observer i agree when you talk about khan and calzaghe but not hatton...hatton has beaten very good men and has won titles in 2 weight divisions , he has also fought the best fighter in the world in mayweather.
calzaghe struggled to get past hopkins in a fight i thought calzaghe lost by 1 point...this is calzaghes greatest acheivement in boxing.
hatton beat a true great for his title
now back to khan..i think khan has skills but no chin...warren knows this and thats why he is being matched against fighters with no punch and men who are smaller with no chance of reaching him

Do you not think Calzaghe will be a Hall of Famer? Why do some of you post on a British Boxing forum when the majority of your opinions are so negative?!
You seem to hate half of the best fighters in this country.
The jury is still out on whether Hatton will be a HOF, but I think the Lacy, Hopkins and Kessler wins should see JC through. Pavlik and Jones would, of course, seal the deal.
I think Calzaghe is more deserving of 'legend' and HOF status than many who are in there, McGuigan for example.
I wouldn't use the term 'legend' though, I agree with you on that. It's like the word 'genius', it gets banded around with no real thought.
At the end of the day he gets paid to fight people.
Khan is a terrific fighter. He's beaten some good men already and will be a world champ. He's still just a kid. He may have a suspect chin but let's give him a chance. Get behind the guy instead of bitching about him all the time.

That's one of the things that baffles me, what has having a weak chin got to do with anything?
It never stopped Hearns achieving greatness did it?

my problem with calzaghe is that he wasted his prime by fighting nobodies for 10 years...he has never fought away from home vs a guy in his prime....i hope this changes vs pavlik though
lacy was overrated but joe did an amazing job on him , kessler was a good fighter but no better than collazzo and hopkins i think beat joe...i really wish joe would have fought hopkins , jones jnr 5-7 years ago.
im from the uk - scotland but i think joe should have left warren and fought the best years ago , just like hatton and hamed , especially in america
ps: the point about khans chin being like hitmans hearns is very valid one

Thing is, Lacy and Kessler are not Fighters who make you HOF..
Rot Jones and Hopkins Are...
But Calzaghe is fighting these guys soooo late in their Career. The Hopkins win is meaningless, as it showed only one thing, that had that fight been a few years earlier, Hopkins would have won Cleanly.

Hopkins was coming off wins over Wright and Tarver at light heavyweight. He was still in the top 10 p4p.
He had Calzaghe down in the first and Calzaghe still took it by two rounds on my card.
A scruffy, awful affair I agree, but he still won, and on American soil.
It'll never be enough though.
British fans are so fickle. So what if Khan has a suspect chin, do we want perfection? The only fighter even close to it is Mayweather and even he has his flaws.
Khan can box, he can bang, he is lightning quick and showed bravery v Limond. If his chin is a problem then let him worry about it, let's just watch and enjoy him while we can.

I can just see Amir in the build up to this fight "it's a tough fight you know what I mean, he's a former world champion"
A fight between Khan and Rees would be a complete non-event and would do nothing to progress Khan's career, as you have alluded to, Khan will just jab Rees for 12 uneventful rounds whilst Rees waves his chin in the air pitter patters away at Khan with no success.

I just want to see Khan in with a top 10 opponent and see what he can do, I wonder if Frank would prefer to put him in at 140 against Torres or Kotelnik. Both are clearly beatable.
Guzman has too much for anyone at 135. Pacman is too much. Maybe an old Nate Campbell or an old Casa would make sense.
I think they will hope Romanov gets the WBA and try to get him in the ring as thats winnable
I want to see him in the deep end against someone he has a shot at

It wasn't even proper boxing though was it? it was a fricking shambles - "a scruffy, awful affair" as you call it. As G0mez mentioned, Joe can't even turn his wrist into his shots - when his shots land his hands aren't facing the right way. I think Joey Boy needs to fight someone a bit more straight forward, like Pavlik, to leave boxing with a better impression.
Wright at light heavyweight - that statement says it all. What part of the fight did Winky think, "Oh fornicate, eating all those donuts was a bad idea, wasn't it?" Pretty early on I reckon.

Hatton and Calzaghe have both fought good opponents. There will always be room for arguements about did Hatton fight a faded Tszu and why did Calzaghe have a hard time beating BHop. To answer the latter Hopkins style stopped Calzaghe putting on a performance. Both are good champions and IMO Joe is a great. Why, Eubanks, Kessler and Lacy those 3 in particular. Khan is still learning and the chin hasnt been tested, the temple has in his fight with Limmond. Why do people keep going on about his chin? Khan is a relative newby so he cant be dicussed alongside the likes of Calzaghe and Hatton who have both proved they can and have won world titles. Its far too early to know if Khan can win and hang onto a World title, but he does have the potential if he doesnt rush which seems to be the problem. Khan may not like Warren holding him back but there are two good reasons for doing so. Fights that prepare him for a title shot and while he stays unbeaten he makes loads of money for Warren and Team Khan. Rush things and it could all go wrong. FW is a shrewd businessman and a good promoter.
