Haye I heard, and I think chesh did as well, that he's fighting in the Autumn. Still waiting another week for his big announcement.

Am I the only one wishing that Haye wasn't taking so long off? It's not a dead cert that he wins a heavyweight title. Shouldn't Haye be fighting regularly, creating a buzz, knocking out has beens and busting up decent prospects? Learning how to carry the weight, testing his power, getting used to the bigger shots coming his way...

He could be going into fights as the "undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world" right now, the title helping to shift more tickets. I'm a believer in him but I'd rather see him carve out his own ranking than just asking for one and not being active.

Depends what "Autumn" means. Could be early September in some poeple's eyes, could be late November.

2 fights a years isn't enough if he wants to achieve his goal in the timeframe stipulated.

When Holyfield moved up from cruiser to heavy it took him 2 years to get himself in the frame for a title shot, in that time he had 6 fights.

But he was ranked top 10 anyway by the WBA wasn't he?

I'm pretty sure that Holyfield was going to challenge Tyson in 1990, but along came Buster Douglas and spoiled the plans, so Holyfield then took on Seamus McDonagh in a tick along fight.
So in that timescale Holyfield was lined up for Tyson within 18 months of going to heavy.

Haye doesn't need to take so long off I agree, he was 15st 10lb when he talked crap to Wlad's face so he doesn't need to put weight on or get used to the weight.

He bulked up during his Euro champ reign so he hardly needs to put on weight, thats why he was looking gassed against the likes of that dane and Mormeck.

Man Pavlik would get splattered, he wouldn't be able to steamroll through Joe like he does against Middleweights and negative boxers like Taylor who out jabbed him In the rematch.

Calzaghe would probably win but there will be factors against him like weakening himself to move down in weight, which makes things very interesting. Long reigning boxers always have the famous "one last fight" and maybe there is the recipe that it could go wrong for Joe.

I'm hoping it's going to be Pavlik for Calzaghe and a BIG named top 10 HW for Haye

Re Haye - I'd like to see him start off with Rahman or McCall, then move to Chazz Witherspoon or Chris Nipple (those 2 are fighting each other). I want to see how Haye carries 235-pounds past more than 5 rounds and how it affects his mobility. If he struggles, someone like Alexander Povetkin is going to dish out a steady beatdown provided he weathers the early storm.

Glen Johnson? You're not serious?

Pavlik and Jones are the only options, Pavlik being the better one.

Johnson shouldn't be on Joe's radar. Yes the fight should have definitely happened when it was first signed but Joe's got 2 fights max left. Would be entertaining though.

Haye v McCall would certainly be interesting. Talk about a way to test your power at the higher weight. Of course I don't think it would happen but could you imagine the shockwaves if he somehow stopped him?

I'm really hoping for Pavlik vs Calzaghe. Whoever wins then deserves a heck of a lot of credit.

I would've suggested Haye vs Juan Carlos Gomez. Easy to promote with Haye having personality & being fan friendly. And with Haye being the current cruiser champ & Gomez being a past master of the division with two wins over McCall.

But I honestly don't know what Gomez is playing at these days - why hsn't his fight with Virchis happened yet?

I wanna see Holyfield-Haye myself, the greatest Cruiserweight champion of all time, as well as a four time Heavyweight champion and not too long ago was fighting for the WBO title, against the best Cruiserweight as of now, whose trying to make waves at Heavyweight like Holyfield had done...be almost a mirror reflection, in my mind, of when a certain Cruiserweight upstart (Holyfield) faced off against a former heavyweight title holder named Michael Dokes, in what was the best heavyweight fight of the late 1980's.

If that could be pulled off, I think Haye would make waves quick; and I not only say this because Holyfield is who he is, nor do I say this because of the Rocky Balboa feel to the whole idea, but because it would be between two smaller heavyweights, and everybody knows the smaller the fighter the more action supposedly there would be in the ring...both throw great combinations, have a good deal of power, and let's face it, in the heavyweight division the only buzz we had going on was when Haye announced he was setting his sights on Wlad Klitschko, oh that and the rumored third Tyson-Holyfield fight.

Sounds a natural.

I think Pavlik has got to do a number on Lockett for this fight to be sellable. If Pavlik struggles against an opponent probably not in the independent top twenty or not given a pray, then all of sudden Pavlik's claims as the main man at the Middleweight limit is a bit questionable. Lets not forget, this is Pavlik's first title defence.

Any news on the Dawson vs Tarver situation?
