WILL THE WBA EVER ABANDON THEIR SUPER & REGULAR CHAMPS?

This is an absolute pudendum of an abortion of a situation with these fellas allowed to have multiple champs - and leaves the door wide open for all manner of bums to pick up belts and further confuse the scene.
Lets not even start on the sudden plethora of 'interim' champs.
Have the WBA ever given any indication that they might scrap this nonsense?
Disband the wba.

It was Lennox who suggested the WBA do this during the time when Ruiz was his mandatry.
Thing Is, If they have a Regular champ and strip him for the fans and not for say facing a challenger, the WBA could get In serious trouble possibly.

There was a good article on this in S/O. The WBC and WBA will always do it as they make from $90k per fight. More versions of a champ equals a greater spread of money for them.
It's yet another notch on the bad for boxing rollercoaster, but until promoters and fighters refuse to be champ, and, let's be honest, they won't, it will continue.

And we're all powerless.
At least The Ring ignores them.
Can HBO and Showtime not refuse to broadcast 'regular' champs? They're the only ones with clout who can make a difference.

Definitely. They don't broadcast 'proper' world championships fights in the US, so they'd have no problem with it.
THE RING isn't much better now, as GBP try and keep the belt "in house" if they can (see Lightweight division).

It's not great but I largely ignore the belts that don't matter. I follow the boxer not the belt and a title fight tends to add little to the excitiment unless there's a genuinely decent mandatory fighter. IF anything The Ring title is the only one that matters now.

I don't think the Ring belt is the only one that matters. Ask Nate Campbell, who won 3 belts vs Juan Diaz yet is told that he isn't champ because he doesn't hold the Ring belt. To get a shot at the Ring belt you have to be promoted by Golden Boy who owns the fvcking Ring - at lightweight where we have this Golden Boy monopoly happening.
With stuff like this happening, how are you supposed to get a shot at a title? It's like, I'm sorry, so what if you worked your way up to mandatory status and earned a crack, because you don't fit in with our plan.
It's another title, in other words. Another room for debate. Another fragment to consider. Another hair to split. Another penny to scrabble over.
I won't deny though, that Golden Boy can make a lot of good fights between their house fighters, such as Casamayor, Katsidis, Marquez and Jesus Chavez.
The Ring belt is best for older fighters, as it doesn't enforce mandatories, will never tell a fighter "defend vs so-&-so or this magazine won't recognise you!" - it allows them to face fellow aged, established names.

Fair point. When the Ring belt was created in earnest its intentions were good, and it existed for the right reasons. It's been corrupted by Golden Boy for sure.
Took a while this reply!

Ergo the situation does concern them.
