Promoter allegedly has offered David Haye a whopping £600,000 payday to fight Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion Matt Skelton in the Autumn. Haye, the WBO/WBC/WBA Cruiserweight Champion, now intends to campaign in the heavyweight division and is looking at Hasim Rahman as his next opponent. Skelton took WBA World Champion Ruslan Chagaev the distance in January and is ranked above Rahman in the independent rankings..

But Warren believes that Haye should first prove himself to be the best in Britain by taking on Skelton, the number one ranked heavyweight in the country, before he looks overseas.

He said: "This is a massive payday for Haye and a great opportunity to see if he is the real deal in the heavyweight division that he tells us he is. Skelton is the best in Britain and pushed Chagaev all the way in their world title fight. If Haye is serious about the heavyweight division he should fight Skelton first."

Haye has already been knocked out by a 40-year-old in Carl Thompson and Skelton, who hits the big 4-0 shortly, is really up for the job.

Skelton said: "I want the fight big time. It's a massive clash between Britain's biggest men. Haye wants to prove himself as a heavyweight so he should face the best and that's me. I know that I've got the power to knock him out."

You got there literally 2 seconds before me.

It would be intruiging this one.

Skelton is an ugly, brawling & mauling type fighter, but he has a good chin & is tough.

I think it would be a mistake for Haye to try & blast Skelton out; we could get a repeat of the Thompson fight, but David seems so intent on blasting people out that I cannot see him pacing himself for a long fight.

Which means hes tossing Audley into Samuel Peters cage.

Cant we have the legendary Danny Williams v Peter?

Williams uppercut would dent Peter way more than McClines...

I reckon Haye could get a TKO over Skelton. I know Matt's tough as hell but with Haye's fast hands and power I think Skelton could be stopped on a mercy stoppage. It would also open the eyes of the world even more if he stopped him and would've done better than Chagaev. But like you say, he doesn't want to run out of steam and end up like he was against Thompson.

Can't see Haye going down this route. He has stated plenty of times he won't go down the domestic route and i'm sure they'll be looking at a name opponent that he can look good against rather than 12 rounds wrestling with the bear for no real credit. Also Warren is supposedly annoyed, you reckon there may be options attached?

Surely Fwank will want options. Haye will understandably decline and Wazza will keep chinning in his tabloid column about how Haye is ducking his fighters.

Also with regards Haye blasting people out where are people getting this from? Every fight I have seen since Thompson have had Haye boxing behind the jab and only going for the knockout once the big shot has landed. The day of him loading up on 80-100 shots a round to get a guy out of there are long gone.

Wouldn't be a bad start for Haye's heavyweight annihilation. Skelton's got that Inside fighting which could give Haye problems due to lack of Haye's Inside game and he has a good chin as well.

Just a bit. Schaefer has been desperate for a HW to put under the GBP banner for years as they don't have one (Ibragimov was never promoted under GBP, even though his US fights could have been).

Skelton's uppercut and inside game wouldn't be effective against Haye I reckon. He has massive reach and he doesn't seem to get involved in scraps - Carl Thompson aside. He would box his ears off and could possible stop him late on. The only way haye would lose is if he lost concentration and he's leanrt his lesson from the Cat.

Skelton would do better than Rahman. Rahman relying on boxing ability and the jab would be easy pickings for Haye.

Mormeck took Haye's jab and got Inside and Haye wanted to move more out the way than fight, If he can't get out the way, I would like to see what he does.

Skelton's waaaay slower than Mormeck though - I just can't see Skelton closing off the space with Haye.

Do you not think the problem with the Thompson fight was the weight limit (190)? I've watched David training on youtube a few times and I've only seen Mayweather train harder out of active fighters. The bench/dumbell workout he does is insane.

Skelton seems a smart cookie, though. He did okay in the early rounds against Chagaev. But maybe he's a slow starter. I haven't seen enough of his fights.

That has nothing to do with it mate. The limit was 200lbs then and Haye weighed easily inside it. I just think he blew himself out and got tired and buckled. He's surely learnt his lesson now and seems more dedicated, instead of partying and neglecting training. He is so different from the Thompson fight it's unreal.

Skelton's not a fast boxer but he ain't that slow and he's stronger than Mormeck who's a natural Light Heavy/Cruiser.

Interesting times, I don't think that Rahman and Skelton are a bad first couple of fights at HW if he could use skelton as a marking time fight provided he's fighting regularly.

Skelton to me is a european gate keeper whilst Rahman is a world class gate keeper. Would be interesting to see how haye responds to being bullied around the ring by a natrully bigger man.

Yeah I know, but Mormeck closed the ring off well against Haye and Skelton will struggle to do the same job. And with Skelton's best chance being inside I can't see him coming close to winning. It would just be a question of whether Haye can get him out of there, and I think he could force a sympathy stoppage. Skelton's too easy to hit.

Not seen Haye's weight workout, what stuff does he do?

Frank wants to stop Haye from promoting himself, IMO. Make him an offer he can't refuse, maybe add several options & Frank has so much control over what happens over at Setanta he has his own TV channel to promote his fighters on and to show their fights. Frank's biggest carrot is that he can stage fights in big arenas for Haye.

IMO Haye should work with Frank only when it suits Haye, not when it suits Warren. If Haye has the name to negotiate TV contracts for himself, he has half the work done already.

He side jumps a bar (a lower version of what Ricky does) and throws a 1-2 combination with 20KG dumbells each time he lands for 3 minute rounds. Tried looking on youtube but they tend to be removed quite quickly. My mate is brining me in his workout that was published in Muscle Fitness which he said is very very good.

There was also a good medicine ball workout last on youtube where he was doing impact training but that's gone too.

Think Haye could command more than 600,000 a fight for his Heavyweight trail. Did he get more for fighting Enzo Mac?
