Just heard Ian on 5live trying to defend Tyson he did a good job of what is ultimately a hard case to make on that kind of radio show.

I didn't want to mention it in the e-mail Ian, but did you notice that he brought a porn star to the Hatton fight. Now that's class. 8)

An event with him in Glasgow has been called of cos of protests from womans rights and his rape conviction.

I read in the local paper a little snippet that Scott Harrison is back on remand...so he couldn't have done the Tyson gig! That would have been car crash entertainment!

bit of a shocker with developments of the Harrison case, his uncle Jack McGill was found hanging from a tree.

Jack McGill was charged in Spain alongside Harrison, the case was on going so i don't know what this death will have on the charges.

Jack McGill did box pro for a while, and its a sad end to a life

They don't really link up like that, they must think I'm two different people! I'm all in favour of boxing in schools, particularly teachers v lippy students!

My english teacher/head of 6th form taught us boxing and later took me to the local boxing club with him where I bloodied his nose he was good enough to forgive me!!

He's done the time is the obvious one.

We happily embrace far more dangerous men at number 10 let alone as an after dinner speaker to 150 fans in Glasgow!

and also its quite hard to glorify him too much these days because he cuts a pretty sad figure!

2. He's served his time.

There are more - and plenty of counter-arguments I'm aware of too. I also made the point that it's completely understandable if women or whoever want to speak out against him. It's hard to have sympathy for a convicted rapist who has blown $500 million. I don't. But that doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to haul his tragic arse around the country to entertain people deluded enough to shell out three figures to see him.

Tyson is just a commodity now, to be used and abused. I can't say i'd be surprised if he wasn't alive in 5 years time.

Sounds to me that the problem posters have on here is more the amount being charged than Tyson actually doing the rounds. Is that a fair comment?

I'd pay to see him based on the assumption that it was an evening, not some sick circus booth. Heck, I've paid for Hatton and Bruno in July.

Spot on, Ian. I think I rather harshly (but it's true) referred to him cutting a tragic figure these days and seem to remember calling him 'an ambulatory freak show'. One hopes his future isn't as grim as you point out but if either he (or Gazza, poor lad) ended up dead in a hotel room, one wouldn't be surprised...really hope they both live long productive lives, of course.

By the way, Emerson, I know someone who went to one of these Tyson events a couple of years ago and he stumped up £100, had an obscured view and couldn't hear Tyson mumble the answer to a few pre-vetted questions taken from a hat.

Not even a picture, Ian? That's shocking. In that case they can feck off. I can go to Cheetah's in Vegas for free and see him and they at least have strippers!!!!
