Think he'll do better than expected and wouldn't be suprised If he pulls It off, the Middleweight division Isn't that strong In talent. My main worry Is Lockett tuning up on too many journeymen on his record.

Even if Lockett doesn't win, I feel he will go up in everyones estimation by a long way after the fight
Remember he was an excellent amateur too.
And at such long odds he is worth sticking a couple of quid on

Pavlik has a very long reach and is very accurate with his punches. His shots carry a lot of power and he is a fantastic finisher. Lockett is just to upright, i see Pavlik getting to him early.

I really cant see Lockett being competative in this fight, but i hope he proves me wrong big time.

Lockett was in BN last week, and gave a very honest appraisal of his chances, he knows he's a long shot. But believes in his power, and the fact that Pavlik is only human, so can be beat.

Gary didn't sound in love with the game of boxing, and see's it as a means to an end , financial security for his family.
He also said he doesn't like to go on the boxing sites anymore, as he was getting wound up with the negitive comments on some of the boxing forums, i'd say he'd had a look at boxrec.

I'm still giving him a chance against Pavlik, its a punchers chance.
Pavlik isn't superhuman and has been hurt and decked before, the problem is keeping him from getting up.

From watching that pads video, you'd be hard pressed to say whether it was Lockett, Calzaghe or Maccarinelli hittng the pads. They seem to follow the same punch routine and throw the same shots in the same positions. That's all well and good if the target's stationary during the whole fight and they can just plant their feet and tee off, but what if it isn't? Why don't these guys get given other situations? No wonder they all look confused when an opponents moves laterally and offers them some different angles.

I'd love Lockett to pull it off as he seems like a real decent, level-headed guy, but he's way in over his head here. He'll always have a punchers chance, but Pavlik's jab and right hand will find Gary's chin all night. He's got no head movement and is upright at all times. This is going to be similar to Enzo-Haye but more prolongued

Aye, Lockett comes over as a sound fella, and I hope he does himself proud.

Personally, I think he lacks the names on his ledger to be truly competitive against Pavlik - If he had a bit more grounding at Euro level and more Americans on his record, then that would have done a lot for him as a fighter.

Kelly Pavlik is definite World Class so the comment about the Middleweight division is irrelevant with regards to this fight. Even so, I feel the Middleweight division has quite a few good boxers coming through: Joe Greene, Paul Smith, Koji Sato, Gennady Golovkin, Darren Barker, Dmitry Pirog, etc.

i just hope he lands the left hook 'locketts rocket' early, hurts pavlik, then all hell breaks loose with a tear up and lockett stands a half reasonable chance against a very hurt man. but........... if its the other way round and lockett gets badly hurt early then it could be an early easy night for pavlik.

He's world class but I feel he's a Ko waiting to happen. He's not hard to hit and being 6ft 2 probably Is what probably wins his fights since he's big for a middleweight and helps when he trades.

Technical wise he's limited and Taylor should of got a draw In the 2nd one.

Abraham's technically limited too but he's Insanely made of granite and has power, he'd probably beat Pavlik In a slugfest being the better chined fighter.

Lockett needs to use his explosiveness, Taylor had Pavlik down being explosive but let him back In the fight In the 1st match.

Lockett will do better than expected even If he loses.

Lets be realistic, Locket is going to lose, and lose by KO within 3 or 4... however,I'll respect Gary more for going over and going out all guns blazing than I do/did Eastman for talking a good fight then going over and doing f-all, or Witter fighting Judah and back peddling like f--k. Ko or be KO'd gary, go on my son!

Lockett's chins good enough to not be Ko'ed that early.

I think Pavlik's more likely to be outboxed than knocked out. The only reason Taylor had Pavlik down in the first fight is because Pavlik stuck his chin out (to show Taylor [wrongly] that he couldn't be hurt by him). Pavlik has a good chin - look back on his fights against Zertuche and Miranda.

Wish Gary all the best, its all down to him closing the gap with head movement, foot speed and a jab, having a tight defense and slipping shots. If he can do those things he has a shot but I don't think he can do those things

Mirana hardly hit him and Pavlik just steamrolled him. Miranda's reach and mobility for power shots were taken away.

Miranda's not a world class fighter though.

Taylor couldve finished him,and shouldve in the first fight. No idea why he didnt.

Miranda hurt Pavlik a few times in that fight, but he couldn't connect with a follow up punch quick enough.
Pavlik reminds me of Matthew Saad Muhammed, walking through boxers , but taking punishment on the way in. This can only be done for so long before his body can't take it anymore.
