Message to Steve Wood and Jamie Moore

Message from spud

I would like to thank Steve Wood and Jamie Moore for attending a regimental boxing evening in York for 3 units who had recently returned from Afghanistan.

They took time out of their busy schedule to give out signed posters and gloves and speak to the soldiers (some who had lost limbs) about their time in Afghanistan

It’s fantastic to see boxing family looking after the forces.

Well done all,

Jamie Moore really does sound like a decent guy, hope he gets a shot at one of the big 3 titles.

I'm his secretary. But I've told him I refuse to wear fishnets. Unless it's a weekend.

Jamie and Steve are top guys , our armed forces need all they can get. I spent 20 months in total in Afghanistan so I know what most of these boys have been through, although I can't even imagine the injuries some of them have been through.

Still good to see boxing and the forces supporting each other.

It is always the same guys who support the Army the other Friday I was at a show in the National Hotel London for an Army Charity 'forgotten hero's' the regiment was the green jackets.

On the top table was Julius Francis, James Cook, Dean Cooper and thew guest of honour was Frank Maloney who spent time talking to the guys in uniform and him and Julius was telling jokes about thier time training in Aldershot for the Tyson Fiasco.

Maloney donated two tickets for the Hatton fight which fetched over £1200 pounds it seems to always be the same guys who support the armed forces and thier charities.

Keep up the good work Spud as we know that most people on the net hate you but your work for charity like your forehead is endless it is a pity some of the others dont follow your example!!!

Some of us do, Pug, but we don't advertise the fact.
I've worked tirelessly for Sheffield Childrens Hospital for instance over the years, and had countless boxers past and present helping me.
Appreciate its not the Armed Forces, but that's my choice, to help kids.
I can go back at least 9 years to recall what Spud has done, in fact he's helped me a couple of times with "contacts"
I think I can safely say that Ricky made his "debut" for me when venturing out on the dinner scene.
He said f all, but did his best bless him at doing his live rendition of Blue Moon.
And all for the princely some of ...... a free bar !
Compare that to now ......
Many boxers do, in their own way, support charity work, and long may it continue.

In my boorish opinion, providing help for sick children is a much. much worthier cause than helping professional soldiers. Its not like we still have conscription or anything..
