Here we go again:

FALLEN boxing champ Scott Harrison is set to miss his tragic uncle's funeral after he was sent to jail yesterday to await trial for assault.

Harrison, 30, is accused of attacking his girlfriend and two cops - one of them female - at his home on Monday. He also denies charges of breach of the peace and resisting arrest.

His lawyer begged a court to give him bail so he could go to the funeral of uncle Jack McGill, who was found hanging from a tree on Sunday in woods near his home.

But Glasgow sheriff John Beckett refused the request and remanded Harrison in custody until next month.

Former world featherweight champ Harrison pled not guilty to assaulting girlfriend Stacy Gardner and the two police officers at his home in Cambuslang, near Glasgow.

His lawyer, Philip McWilliams, told Sheriff Beckett: "His uncle, to whom he was very close, was found dead on Sunday. He is anxious to be with his family and to attend the funeral. This has caused him some distress."

Mr McWilliams added that Harrison had been training every day in a bid to get his boxing licence back, and warned that remanding him in custody would "greatly jeopardise" his chances.

The court also heard that Harrison, a father of two, was actively involved in his kids' lives.

But Sheriff Beckett said he had decided to remand him in custody, despite a "powerful argument" for giving him bail.

Co-accused Christopher Lennon, 21, denied a single charge of breach of the peace and was bailed until next month.

Harrison's troubled life took another tragic turn on Sunday when McGill's body was found by a passer-by in woodland near Carmunnock, south of Glasgow.

Sources said McGill, himself a former champion boxer, had become depressed after falling out of favour with the Harrison family.

Harrison's ex-manager Barry Hughes said McGill's death was "a big wake-up call for everyone on the Harrison side".

Last night, Hughes admitted he had run out of sympathy for Harrison.

He said: "Scott has run out of chances and the public has run out of sympathy. It's clear a sheriff has run of out of patience too.

"I said Scott should try to use the tragedy as a springboard to turn his life around but he doesn't seem able to do that. I find the whole situation desperately sad."

When I saw the title of the thread I thought the user here nickd had gone and opened his mouth and Scott Harrison had ended up buggering him.

 Same as m8. Sad to see him go this way though - it seems he just can't stay out of trouble.

Feel sorry for his children, you know the ones he couldn't abide being in the papers!

Just a drunk heading for the abyss who happened to have been a good fighter in his day.

From a boxing point of view, he never did quite land the 'big one'. Did he?

No Barrera, Marquez, Morales, Pacman, Guzman etc.....

Just shows you, you can dick around with the WBO and never really know how good you were, or weren't.

Scott seems to be constantly on the edge of capitulation and it looks like his uncles suicide/death tipped him over it ..... again. The death of a close relative* can do strange things to a persons mind

I know he lacks sympathy on here, but I hope Scott can sort himself out.

*I don't know if him and his uncle were close

Ironically I'm not the one in threat of being buggered this week!

As for Harrison it's about time he got banged up he's had enough chances. It seems he's even attacking women now! Little sympathy for him I am afraid, many alcoholics have managed to turn their lives around without anywhere near the chances Harrison has been afforded to do so. He's a sociopath.

His uncle was the guy arrested with him when he had that tear up out in Spain.

Sounds as though they were close then, if so I can understand how Scott lost his head this time

It's still no excuse assaulting 3 people including 2 women.

Just shows exactly the sort of person he is IMO.

Assault can be for as little as a push. Without knowing the full details of what went on it's impossible to be judge and jury

True, but if it was simply a matter of a few shoves he certainly wouldn't have been remanded.

Wasn't his uncle a no good drug dealer who was a huge part of Scott's problems?

Everytime he got himself arrested or had a punch up, it seemed his uncle was always by his side.

if someone does not get a grip of scott harrison very very quickly then we are heading for a 'self-harm' situation. the man needs medical/psychiatric help and soon....

come on scott, screw the bobbin and live life with great boxing memories, stop pressing the self destruct button and stop being a pariah and a social hand-grenade !!

I think he needs psychiatric help in prison hospital so he is forced to have the treatment.

It's not a psychiatric problem with Harrison, if it was he would have been sectioned years ago.

I'm afraid there isn't an excuse for his behaviour, and he'll keep biting the hand that feeds him the sympathy.
