Lord this man can talk. on a 29 minute programme Buncey answered one question by talking for (and I timed this) 3 minutes and 44 seconds....without interruption and, it seemed, without taking a breath!

If anyone thinks that isn't long, look at any other sports programme and you will rarely get more than 20-30 seconds max in an answer.

This was a masterpiece of verbal diarrhoea.....I just felt sorry for the presenter and the crew who must have been thinking "jaysus, when will this man stop.....we need to change the camera angle".

Having said that, one had to agree Bunce is a character and does bring colour. Even if I wish he would talk 50% less and use less melodrama in his chat.....

People who tune in to Sentanta sports news just wanting to know the french open news or rinaldo transfer speculation and who dont know much about boxing must just sit their opened mouthed "who's that high pitched voice big bloke and what the hells he on about"

He is hilarious, although sometimes he makes me cringe, an example being during the Haye v Mormeck fight when he was clinging to Maccas nuts in the studio, then a few months later once Haye had beaten Macca he couldn't get enough of Haye.

Even my girlfriend stays up for the Setanta fights now, just so she can laugh at Bunces "analysis".

I don't think anyone else in boxing could handle that Setanta gig. Imagine it: You're stuck in a studio with a presenter who knows absolutely jack about the sport and you have to do ALL the work otherwise there's no show. As far as I'm concerned Setanta need to show Bunce a bit more credit and pay him two people's wages cos he's doing two people's work, every time

I thinky Buncey does a great job!!! He is a likeable, lively character and a great asset to Setanta. OK he talks bollox sometimes but no more than some on here.

I agree. I'm a big fan of Bunce. He saved the day during Barrera-Pac II when Setanta lost the live feed in the latter part of the fight. There would have been a lot of dead airtime without Steve's ability to talk unscripted ad infinitum. We "anoraks" might pick up on the odd factual error, but he does have great knowledge of the game, and the ability to utilise that knowledge in such an enthusiastic and entertaining manner is, surely, a great asset to Setanta.

I like Bunce's charisma...but Glyn is bound to back him as he employs him! The problem is Bunce needs to stop melodrama and exagerration as it confuses the layman.

He was talking about how records can be deceptive (good point) and chose to illustrate the point by saying that Khan last fought a Dane with '380 fights and 372 knockouts' or something similar. ANd then he said the Dane was Rubbish....


Which is a factual inaccuracy on many fronts (even allowing for artistic licence)- Ktistiansen is not a puncher, had been beaten, and is a decent fighter and gave a fight - he was just overpowered.

Basically it was a good point made terribly....and what was the non-boxing anorak to make of this rant?

I'm watching Setanta now and it's good. Lockett seems very clear about his chances and what he needs to do. It seems like he wants to test Pavlik's body.

I gotta feeling Gary is gonna pull this off, he is a very determined character with great self belief and an excellent amateur grounding, SN have been feeding him in the pro's but he really wants this, feels he has got something to prove, and he has genuine world class power.
Enzo Calzaghe has whipped him into great shape, they have no respect for world class in the South Wales valleys.
Pavlik knows nothing about him, hasn't done his homework and is looking towards his next fight, hopefully he will pay for his complacency.
This bout is all about making a Calzaghe fight for him.
If Kelly isn't careful he will allow the Rocket into punching range and it will be lights out!

If I've managed to dig up 4 of Gary Lockett's fights, then I'm sure Pavlik has seen more. I still don't like Lockett's chances.

Edit: Bunce was saying that Pavlik has seen footage of Lockett and has been really respectful when talking about him.

Pavlik is proven at a level Lockett has never encountered, but with complacency and the Welshman's power taken into account I really hope he can pull off a massive upset

I think people are getting Pavlik mixed up with a future 'hall of famer' he is good

I'm looking at the rankings and thinking Gamboa or Valero are the only ones which would fit such a billing. But I can't see either happening
