Enzo Mac

I always wondered about this earlier in his career - I know he can't do it now but could he have made 175lb? He walks around at under the crusierweight limit I heard and when he was in the studio for Haye - Mormeck he told Bunce that he was on 14 stone and that was a week after his fight.

Of course he could make 175. The question is whether he'd be without a dominant punch at the weight? Just a bridge too far I think. The old 190 limit would suit him perfectly.

I agree that 190lbs would've been ideal but if I were him I would've worked my arse off to get down to light heavyweight, providing his punch power is still there and his punch resistance isn't affected. He looked a little flabby against Haye at the weigh-in and still only weighed 197lbs - he surely could've got well down on that.

He was too old, and Enzo Macc is too old to do it now.

Look at my original post lads, "I always wondered about this earlier in his career - I know he can't do it now but could he have made 175lb?"

Don't think Enzo Is or ever has been a natural Light Heavy, a little softness around the edges doesn't say that either. Being ripped doesn't mean your fit or strong.

He is 6'4 as well, 13'8 would have been best for him, he would have always been 2 tight at 12'6
It was thought, when he turned pro at 19 he would develop into a natural heavy but his weight has stayed the same

I just wondered because he was always going to struggle against someone who had to shed weight to make 200lbs because he was always giving away a massive weight advantage as he walks around at about 195lbs. And he looked fleshy at the weigh-in against Haye and has always really looked fleshy before fights and on fight night. I guess if he was around 6'1' then we wouldn't be having this discussion because he would've definitely been a natural at light heavyweight.

True but he's only 2 inches taller than Pavlik and has a fairly similar build.
I was of the opinion that maybe 185lbs would be his ideal weight but knowing how much boxers can torture themselves to get down in weight i reckon he could probably do it.

I always thought about Enzo Mac dropping down because he was easily inside 190lbs when he fought guys like Scott, Abdoul and Delaney. I reckon he could've easily lost another stone onto that because he doesn't have a massive frame, does he now? And he doesn't have to lose nothing to fight, as he's probably well inside the crusierweight limit as we speak - I guess it's hard to lose all that weight and crusier's was probably easier to fight in, but early in his career I was screaming at him to get down to that, as he did walk around at 185lbs very earlier in his career and with a bit more will power and a little less boozing in clubs, he could've acheived that and probably been a lot more successful, and certainly a lot more better off in the old bank account.

Since getting beat by Swaby, Enzo certainly lives the life of a model professional

It was in reference to your comment about 'a bit less boozing in clubs' mate

I was under the impression that Enzo Mac liked a drink before the Swaby fight, or is that bullcrap?

He did a bit, nothing to get excited about tho, the loss brought about a complete change of lifestyle, he is very much a gym rat now, often seen in the corner of kids from his fathers gym at local amateur shows.
He is also the devoted family man, never seen on the razzle in town

Good man, I have always liked him, I just thought he could get down to 175lbs and be strong at that weight, that's all fella.

I hope Enzo starts mixing it with world class boxers again soon. Even with Haye leaving there is a lot of talent coming through at cruiserweight and Enzo should still be a test for anyone. Although it's not going to happen i'd love to see him challenge for one of the other belts and not go back to the safety of the WBO. Would love to see him in with Adamek or Arslan.
I don't think it'll do Enzo any good to start draining himself now. Also light heavy is at a bit of a standstill at the moment.

Maccarinelli would be best at the old Cruiserweight limit of 190 and in the early part of his career he could have possibly made Light-Heavy but nowdays he'd be too drained .
It can be tough on Cruisers with the 25 lb range in weight from the division below to the one above . If you're a small Cruiser but can't make Light-Heavy then tough shit . Enzo isn't really a small Cruiser though , despite often looking a bit flabby .

I think Enzo is a small cruiser because he's probably inside the weight as we speak, and was inside the limit a week after beating Azzoui.
