I would like to thank you all for contributing to my wages this afternoon, and if you moan about it, i'll have a man in a suit come round to yours, and probe you deeply.

Sheesh....while this be one hell of an interesting fight, I must wonder what the hell is Haye thinking? Minto is a tough customer and he doesn't stop coming after his opponents, he isn't some push over...Haye isn't going to knock him out, it will go the distance, and Minto hits pretty damn good too...I hope his chin will hold up.

You must be joking.
This wouldn't be the same Brian Minto that got beaten by an ancient Tony Tubbs and lost widely to Luan Kransiqi?
Minto's defense is is no great shakes and neither is his punching power. Haye will muller him.

Haye wants to fight Klitchsko by the end of 2009...... there is a world of difference between Minto and Klitchsko.

I'd be very disappointed if it was Minto who got the fight with Haye especially with the hype that has been built up around Haye going to Heavyweight and the mentining that he was going to fight a top Heavyweight. Minto is definately not that.

There are much better opponents for Haye. I don't see Minto as a threat really, he's a decent HW who's found his level but with so many old big names still fighting who have campaigned at the highest level it would be much better PR wise to go after them.
Holyfield, Briggs, Rahman, Ruiz, Ibragimov, Maskaev etc. I hear Sicknote Chagaev has pulled out again for the Valuev fight. Chagaev will be out until the end of the year so I wonder if Haye could put himself forward for a voluntary shot.

As a first opponent for Hayes step up to heavy , i wouldn't mind Minto, he's no worldbeater, but is decent and can punch, comes out fast and would not be afraid of Haye.
Plus he would come over with ambition, that can make a difference.

Well you cant do more than blow your opponent away in the first.
If the rumour is true, then that must have increased the chances of it happening, cos it gives Haymaker something to sell.

Minto would definatly come out firing, think it would be a short but exciting fight for Haye.
I'd pick to out gun Minto though, but wouldn't moan if this fight is made.
here's link to Minto v Poore, he got the job done.

just give us a monte barrett fight.
least we have the satisfaction of seeing a mouth get whipped.
and we get to see if he does it better than wlad did it.

When he just been calling out Klitchsko fighting a guy who managed to KO1 an opponent who took up boxing at 29 after competing in Toughman contests won't look too good imo. Also Minto is shorter and would probably come in lighter than Haye, adding to the fact Minto is unknown to the general public and hasn't even beaten any faded names it would be an anti climax if this was announced.
Ibragimov is the way to go if you ask me. The stink from the Wlad fight is still in the air so an impressive win would lead to complimentary comparisons and i don't suspect Iggy's phone been ringing too much lately.

This is from Adam Booth when asked about a Monte Barrett fight.
When the 'News' spoke to Haye's manager Adam Booth this week, he made it clear that other than once again raising the international profile of his fighter, Barrett's challenge was meaningless in their forward planning because he was not ranked in the top ten of any of the major international sanctioning bodies.
"If he's not top ten then it's not a consideration", said Booth simply. "There's no point in him shouting his mouth off. If people want to fight David Haye then they shouldn't be shouting their mouth off in the press, they should be calling me!"

According to the BoxRec schedule Oleg Maskaev will be Haye's opponent.

So Oleg Is ok just because he's No 8 In the WBC?
Being In the top 10 doesn't mean your a top 10 fighter. All the sanctions have rated guys who shouln't be In the top 10.

Well I think Maskaev is a very good choice for Haye - He was the WBC world heavyweight champion until 4 months ago!

And he's quite chinny too and had over a year off due to Injuries before losing to Peter.
