According to the ever reliable BBC this is being mooted for the WBC title (presumably Interim.)

If this happens then its an exciting fight which will show us whether Carl is capable of competing at the top of the division.

Frig me, please be true - this will be Froch's big chance, at last.

This is what Froch, desperatley, desperatley needs. Something to show what he has before he grows over-ripe on the vine.

Taylor would be a good fight for him - personally, I'd love to see him fight Pavlik. I know he'd be wide open for that right hand but I dunno I just think Froch has the heart, power and movement to really cause KP problems.

The rumour is Calzaghe's vacating, so maybe a bit better than interim - if true of course.

Is this Jermain Taylor? I thought he was booked to fight Jeff Lacy in November

Fell through.

Presumably this will be in the States?

'BBC Sport understands Calzaghe's stay at light-heavyweight means he will give up his WBC super-middleweight title.

Calzaghe could be succeeded as WBC champion by another British fighter Carl Froch who is expected to face American Jermain Taylor for the vacant title. '

It said on Sky Sports today that JC is giving up his super middle titles
So after stagnating at domestic level for years Froch will get chucked straight in at the deep end, and I imagine it will be in Taylors back yard, lets hope he is up to it, it may be the only chance Hennessy gets him

Coco,
Sorry to sound pedantic, but Hennessy haven't got him this chance.
My understanding is Taylor and his representatives have made all the running, and they've selected Froch as an opponent.

Cool, but Froch is the WBC mandatory so it can't happen without him, can it?

Will this be in America, then?

Great chance for Froch. Joe always seemed to want a Taylor fight (Taylor, the "light weight small puncher" according to Enzo Calzaghe) so it will be good to see Froch get an opportunity. If it happens.

I appreciate this, I wholly believe you are correct, but with Hennessy as his promoter it will probably be the only chance he gets.
One of the reasons Britain didn't have as many world champs in the old days was because they were always the opponent, Pat Cowdell got his chances v Sanchez and Nelson, Jones v Curry etc
Obviously now there are far more titles and FW has taken things to the other extreme

Its a strange one, I remember when the WBC announced they were swapping Froch and Inkin and I stated "well nothings changed essentially" - I was corrected as people seemed to suggest that Kessler would soon move above Inkin with the WBC - but now he is a champion again he is out of the ranking.

WBC rankings still has Inkin at #2 and Taylor at #3.... so I wouldn't be surprised if Inkin still has a say in the matter.

I thought the WBC fcuked Inkin off out the rankings after the second time he pulled out of the Froch fight

No all he did was move from Mandatory to #2 contender.

Froch-Taylor is a great match up. A tough one for Carl but I can see his power telling in the end.

Lacy has said he wants to fight taylor in November.

The Taylor of the Pavlik rematch who moved around and kept on the jab would beat Froch on points.

Froch will revel in this opportunity to fight at the highest level against a well known and dangerous former champ.

That said, I reckon Taylor will have too much for him. That low slung left will haunt Froch in this match IMO.

JT would box circles around Froch and whack him with that wiiide open defence.

Bad match up for Frochy.

Taylor's left is lower than Carl's.

If jermain is bounced around and getting his left eye closed by 154lb Ouma, then god knows what Froch will do to him.

Can Froch take advantage of Taylor with low gloves? - He is to slow in my opinion.

Taylor is way faster than Froch, and frankly Froch has nothing that Taylor hasn't seen before.
