Torres-Holt (spoiler)

It was fun while it lasted. Torres put Holt down twice then gets sparked CLEAN out........ and all in the first minute of the fight
BOOM!
The odds against him getting to this point were long. When he was 7, Holt's mother, Debra, was sent to jail for manslaughter. Shortly thereafter, his father, Barry, lost custody for child abuse after the youngster was on the receiving end of several beatings.
Holt spent time bouncing around from foster home to foster home. As he entered his teens, he started to sell drugs and was living on his own. Trouble was his constant companion.
But he always had boxing, waiting to rescue him from Paterson's mean streets. Holt's father had introduced him to the sport before he lost custody at age 7. At 16, his dad had come back into his life and with it, boxing.
"I knew I had talent," Holt said. "But every time I turned away from boxing, I found myself in trouble."

Good idea for Arum to put Lamont Peterson on the card. I could see Peterson challenging for the WBO light welter title next year and winning.

Savage accidental headbutt by Holt knocked stuffing out of Torres and then Holt's right-hand finished the job. He was OUT! Thankfully he went straight down. Could have been seriously hurt if Holt had been able to land another punch.
Holt was coming out of crouch and his head clattered Torres who was wobbled back and a right hand to side of head put him fast asleep. He was out like Jersey Joe Walcott in the first Marciano fight, only the ropes keeping him up.
Protect yourself at all times and all that. Got to have a third fight!

They definitely need a 3rd fight. Torres seemed to go limp after the heads went together.

Holt was lucky. Torres is the better fighter, more exciting fighter, and more worthy of success. I'd much rather see Hatton Torres than Hatton Holt. Not that we'll see either, but you know.

They were both going at each other and they had a big clash of heads (not a butt imo, opened up a cut above Holt's eye). This staggered Torres back, took a bit out of him and set him up for the final blow whilst he was lying back on the ropes with his side facing Holt. Think a 3rd fight should definitely happen

What does this kind of fight mean for the championship scene? Or is it just a hyped up club fight?

The butt wasn't deliberate, but did seem to stun Torres, but he had hit Holt with a shot after decking Holt the second time when the ref was trying to get between them, so kind of even things up.

Bit of entertainment, kept the title warm, until someone like Lamont Peterson is ready to fight for it.

Surely Torres will appeal to try and get it ruled a no contest. Cannot really fault the ref as it happend that quick. But definately was seriously hurt by the butt.

What an amazing shootout - that's why we love this game. The 2nd bizzaro fight in a row for these two - what'll happen in the 3rd fight? The ghost of fan man, decending from the skys?

I've not seen one where there was a KO immediately afterwards though. Only cuts. Would be interesting to see what the WBO says.

The head but was vicious though - you see Torres' head snap back. Holt got an unfair advantage from the butt - still, this is boxing and these things happen. it was accidental and simply another thing you have to deal with, Torres was unlucky, but he then he had a fair bit of luck in the first fight.
I really like Torres mind, exciting powerful puncher who'll be buzzing about the world scene for years to come. Shame he couldn't finish Cotto, things might have been different for him.
