Best P4P boxer since Robsinson?

For me, Ray Robinson is the best fighter there's ever been ever likely to be. Simply an amazing boxer, puncher, technician, etc. Since the era of Robinson, who gets your vote as being the best P4P?

Let the debate begin!

Ali. He beat 5 out of arguably the 10 greatest heavyweights ever. Nuff said.

The greats Henry Armstrong and Sugar Ray Robinson retired before I was born

I'm sure Bugner is pleased to hear that.

And here I thought Ali lost to Frazier.

I'll let you in on a little secret, One:

The Liston-Ali fakes were fakes.

And Floyd Patterson had a sore back going into the title fight with Ali, with Patterson's cornermen trying to give him chiropractic adjustments to his back BETWEEN ROUNDS DURING THE FIGHT.

Yet Ali, who had just "knocked out" Sonny Liston with a single "punch" in the first round IN HIS PREVIOUS FIGHT, ran for his life against sore-backed Patterson and showed no punching power at all in this his VERY NEXT fight after the 1-punch "KO" of Liston.

Any fighter who could KO Sonny Liston with a single punch in the first round would have KO'd a sore-backed Patterson in short order.

Where did the magic punch from the 2nd Ali-Liston fake disappear to so quickly?

LOL

The magic punch only works when your opponent is in a cooperative state of mind.

I owned you so bad when you were posting under your John Galt nom de guerre in the "The Irony Of Cus D'Amato..." thread that you have slipped back into your granberry pseudonym...I feel as if I am, errrrrr, shadow boxing...

Gil Clancy , who has seen a thing or two in the ring , says the suggestion that the fight was fixed is crap, ergo:

ZL: Too bad, I’d always liked that story—it made me think of a little defenseless town bracing itself before a hurricane struck…. Here’s something I’ve been looking forward to asking you about: the Liston-Ali fights. They fought twice. It’s a subject of much debate. Was there a fix? (In the second bout, the more controversial of the two, Ali knocked Liston out in 1 round with a short right hand—it was so short, almost no one saw it; Ali called it “the anchor punch.”)

GC: No. In the second fight, Ali really hit him. One my fighters, Alex Miteff, fought Ali. Miteff was a tough, tough guy from Argentina. And he was really doing a pretty good job on Ali’s body. All of a sudden, Ali just hit him with a little right hand: down and out for ten. Ten! Just caught him right.

ZL: I’ve heard that Liston bet on himself to lose?

GC: You’ll always hear that kind of crap.

I disagee a bit with Clancy...I think he could have got up but Ali had convinced Sonny Liston that he was crazy if not dangerous...Sonny even said he was afraid to get up because he felt Clay (Ali) would hit him as he was trying to get up...

Thomas Hauser 's book The Execution of Charles Horman was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize ...He was awarded the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award for Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times...

Larry Merchant is a well regarded sports analyst but I don't rely on his opinions...

Bert Sugar has written over eighty books on boxing and is in the Int'l Boxing Hall Of Fame

Gil clancy is an intersting choice for your invective...I thought we were supposed to rely on the knowledge of those that were actively involved in boxing as a participant as opposed to writing about it...Gil Clancy is a Hall Of Fame boxing trainer who has worked with Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Oscar dela Hoya, and most notably Emile Griffith... In short he has been around the proverbial "block"

Thomas Hauser is a parasite who attached himself to Ali and knows ZERO about boxing.

Cross eyed, heavily drugged Larry Merchant has stunk up boxing broadcasts for years.

Bert Sugar is in the Int'l Boxing Hall Of Fame BECAUSE HE VOTED HIMSELF INTO the phony "Hall of Fame." His buddies take turns voting each other in there, while W. O. McGeehan, Grantland Rice etc etc are left out.

LOL

Ask Gil Clancy why the fighter Clancy made his fortune on is sleeping on a cot in a slum.

And here's the scorecard before Ali TKOed The Rabbit:

Harold Krause 53-46 | judge: Harold Buck 54-45 | judge: Bill Stremmell 53-43 ~

Thomas Hauser is a lawyer who wrote a book that was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and turned into a major motion picture;Missing...He also writes about boxing as he knows many of the players...How many books have you written and coloring books don't count...

I said I'm not a fan of Merchant...I have no reason to disrespect him though...Obviously Disney, the parent company of ESPN thinks highly of him...

Bert Sugar has written eighty books...How many have wou written?

Gil Clancy has worked with and trained with several champions including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Oscar de laHoya, George Foreman, and Emile Grifffith....How many champions have you trained?

As I said when you were masquerading as John Galt in "The Irony Of Cus D'Amato" you are best suited to spam the Ali videos at youtube where acne faced sixteen year old kids marvel at your wisdom.
